Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.
Modern app developers store data in the cloud. Azure offers a broad selection of fully managed relational, NoSQL, and in-memory databases, spanning proprietary and open-source engines, to fit their needs. As the market evolves and new opportunities emerge, we are redoubling our efforts and bringing next-generation database products and services to market. We are looking for passionate and technically strong engineers to help us succeed. Join our team and become a part of the data revolution As a Principal Software Engineering Manager, you will manage a team of highly proficient software developers. You will be responsible all areas of the engineering lifecycle, including understanding the requirements of customers, designing and implementing features, ensuring their quality and readiness, and tracking LiveSite/Supportability KPIs.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python· 4+ years people management experience.· Proven experience in building and shipping production-quality internet-scale web-applications, leveraging one or more of the following technologies: SQL Server, Postgres, MongoDB, DynamodDB, Cassandra, Redis.· Familiarity with concurrent/multi-threaded programming, good understanding of algorithms and distributed systems.
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred/Additional Qualifications
• Experience contributing to any existing OSS like PostgreSQL/ MongoDB /Cassandra is a huge plus.• Experience developing with or building Postgres extensions is highly desirable.• Experience writing performance benchmarks for C# / .NET or Java code, proven experience with tuning systems for critical-path performance improvements.
