The Role The psychologist will have responsibility for a group of Catholic schools in Western Australia. The psychologist provides specialist skills and works collaboratively with Catholic schools, Catholic communities and other professionals in meeting the psychological and educational needs associated with student learning, behaviour, attendance, crisis response, mental health and wellbeing. This is a full-time, fixed term position commencing Term 1 2026 and ending on 2 July 2027. The primary accountabilities include: • Support the mission of Catholic Education by being Christ-centred, actively living the gospel and responding to God’s call to serve. • Work collaboratively with principals, teachers, parents, and external agencies in relation to student mental health, behaviour, attendance, and learning. • Provide consultation to Catholic school staff through a case management model. • Assist Catholic schools with the development and implementation of whole school multi-tiered systems, policies, processes, and programs relevant to student learning, behaviour, attendance mental health. • Administer psychological assessments to appraise the cognitive, psychological, social, and behavioural functioning of students and provide schools and parents with written and verbal reports.  • Assist with the assessment and referral of students when concern for possible harm to themselves or others. • Assist with the development of plans and provide documentation to support applications for additional services. • Build capacity of Catholic education staff through planning, developing, and delivering professional learning and training relating to specific areas of need and system priorities. • Assist Catholic schools with preventing, planning for and responding to serious incident and crisis management. . Selection Criteria ESSENTIAL: Prepared to support the Catholic ethos in the performance of their duties. Hold an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles full or provisional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA). Demonstrated skills in the provision of contemporary evidence-based psychological practices as it relates to children, young people, and schools Ability to engage in collaborative problem-solving processes that serves as a vehicle for planning, implementation, and evaluation Ability to systematically collect, interpret and integrate data to summarise findings and evaluate intervention effectiveness Ability to lead the development and implementation of appropriate programs, interventions and evaluations at the school community, regional and systemic level Ability to complete psychometric assessments, develop interventions and make recommendations Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a highly productive environments as part of a collaborative team Ability to engage in effective ethical and professional decision- making that reflects recognition of the Catholic ethos and the diverse needs of children, families and schools Ability to self-reflect and monitor effectiveness, actively seeks out consultation and demonstrates openness and responsiveness to feedback Demonstrated high quality written skills and competence in the use of information and communication technologies B. HIGHLY DESIRABLE: 1. Experience working within education. 2. Experience working with First Nations and culturally diverse peoples. 3. Experience working with students with disability.
