Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and experienced Firewall Policy Architect to join our team and provide expert consultation on firewall policy architecture across multiple vendors for a large financial institution. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a comprehensive firewall policy architecture that ensures the security and compliance of our network infrastructure. Your expertise in firewall technologies, coupled with your ability to navigate complex multi-vendor environments, will be instrumental in shaping our organization's cybersecurity posture.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Architecture Design and Review:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements, security objectives, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Design and architect firewall policy frameworks that encompass multiple vendors and technologies, ensuring seamless integration and interoperability.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of existing firewall policies and configurations, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Policy Orchestration and Automation:
  • Develop and implement strategies for policy orchestration and automation across diverse firewall platforms, streamlining rule management and enforcement.
  • Leverage automation tools and scripting languages to automate repetitive tasks and accelerate policy deployment processes.
  • Define standards and best practices for firewall policy management, governance, and change control.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
  • Perform risk assessments and gap analyses to identify potential security vulnerabilities and policy inconsistencies.
  • Recommend remediation measures and controls to mitigate identified risks and enhance the overall security posture.
  • Collaborate with security operations teams to implement proactive monitoring and response mechanisms for detecting and addressing security incidents.
  • Vendor Evaluation and Integration:
  • Evaluate firewall vendors and technologies to assess their suitability for meeting organizational requirements and objectives.
  • Facilitate the integration of new firewall solutions into existing infrastructure, ensuring compatibility and alignment with architectural standards.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and stay abreast of emerging trends and advancements in firewall technology.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
  • Document architectural designs, configurations, and implementation guidelines for firewall policy orchestration.
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to internal teams on firewall policy management practices and methodologies.
  • Contribute to the development of security policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, CCIE) preferred.
  • Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing firewall policy architectures in large enterprise environments, particularly in the financial sector.
  • Proficiency in firewall technologies from multiple vendors, such as Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Check Point, Fortinet, Tufin, etc.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, including access control, intrusion detection/prevention, VPNs, and threat intelligence.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions on time and within budget in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
