The global Salesforce platform team sits at the heart of American Express’ global marketing, sales, and account development functions for all lines of business. This platform is a critical enabler of American Express’ customer centricity and growth objectives.We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Big Data Test Engineer with extensive experience in performance and automation testing of APIs and UIs. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of big data technologies, testing methodologies, and automation frameworks. This role requires strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a keen eye for detail to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions. As a Big Data Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for testing data fabric that supports advanced personalization efforts, enabling targeted marketing campaigns based on customer behaviours and preferences.Job Responsibilities:·Test Planning and Design:oDevelop and implement comprehensive test plans and test cases for big data applications.Collaborate with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and define test strategies.Design and execute performance and load tests to evaluate system performance under various conditions.·Automation and Testing:oDevelop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts for API and UI testing using tools like Selenium, Karate, and Appium.oImplement ETL testing strategies using Hadoop and other big data technologies.oPerform smoke and sanity testing to ensure application stability before detailed testing phases.oConduct API automation testing using tools such as SOAP UI, GraphQL, and Tosca.·Performance Testing:oExecute performance and load testing using tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, and Gatling.oAnalyze performance test results and provide insights and recommendations for performance improvements.oMonitor system performance and identify bottlenecks to ensure optimal performance under high data loads.·Quality Assurance:oEnsure all deliverables meet the highest quality standards through rigorous testing and validation.oIdentify, document, and track defects and inconsistencies to resolution.oCollaborate with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and effectively.Validate data completeness, conformity, accuracy, and consistency in data processes and outputs.Monitor data engineering processes for potential system improvements to enhance the data quality.·Reporting and Documentation:oGenerate detailed test reports and metrics to communicate test results and progress to stakeholders.oMaintain comprehensive documentation of test plans, test cases, and test scripts.oCreate and manage traceability matrices to ensure all requirements are covered by test cases.Qualifications:·Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Computer Science or equivalent OR master’s in computer applications or equivalent·5+ years of experience within Data Engineering/Data Warehousing using Big Data technologiesTechnical Skills:·Hand on experience on Big data technologies, Python, Shell scripting·Proven experience as a QA tester or a similar role in data engineering/Big Data technologies.·High level of proficiency in SQL/HQL and scripting.·Knowledge of data quality standards and practices.·Excellent analytical skills with an ability to spot numerical errors, data anomalies and system defects.·Experience with QA methodologies, tools, and processes.·Understanding of ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.·Expertise in API and UI testing automation·Ability to analyze and interpret performance test results.·Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.·Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.We back our colleagues and their loved ones with benefits and programs that support their holistic well-being.
