Building Surveyor – Unrestricted

Regional council in NSW is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to work on a 3-month contract basis, primarily undertaking commercial inspections and assessments, whilst being responsible for mentoring more junior level staff. Specifically, the role will involve conducting assessments of development applications, complying development, construction, occupation and building information certificates. You will conduct inspections of commercial and industrial buildings/premises for component compliance, safety and building information certificates, and take part in discussions with relevant stakeholders. You will undertake compliance and enforcement functions, assessing performance-based alternative solutions under the NCC, as well as assisting in the mentoring and advancement of more junior level team members. You will ideally hold an Unrestricted Building Surveyor registration, with extensive knowledge and experience with legislative interpretation (NCC, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Local Government Act, applicable Australian Standards), possess strong time management, planning and administrative skills with a high level of communication skills and interpersonal skills including conflict resolution and negotiation skills. Council have flexibility for part-time 3-5 days per week if preferred, no remote working options available as the role is required on-site.
