- Be qualified to direct and perform UT inspections in accordance with certification.
- Set up, calibrate, and operate ultrasonic testing equipment.
- Interpret UT indications and evaluate them against applicable standards, specifications, and codes of practice.
- Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of UT methods.
- Apply UT techniques to inspect aerospace components within qualification limits.
- Prepare and maintain inspection records and test reports with accuracy.
- Identify types and locations of expected discontinuities related to the manufacturing process.
- Assist Level III in preparing procedures, techniques, and codes of practice.
- Draft written instructions suitable for Level I personnel.
- Train and guide Level I inspectors and trainees.
- Ensure traceability and identification of material/components at all relevant stages.
- Participate in 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work in compliance with safety, risk management, and environmental guidelines.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Number and timeliness of UT inspections performed.
- Accuracy, clarity, and completeness of UT reports and documentation.
- Compliance with NAS410 and other relevant standards.
- Effectiveness of UT techniques in detecting discontinuities and ensuring part quality.
- Adherence to safety protocols during NDT operations.
- Proper utilization, care, and calibration of UT equipment.
- Customer satisfaction with inspection services and outcomes.
Ideal Qualifications
- Level 2 certification in NDT/ASNT as per NAS410 (UT).
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
- Strong knowledge of UT principles, techniques, and limitations.
- Hands-on experience in aerospace or manufacturing NDT inspections.
- Familiarity with industry standards: NAS410, ASTM, ASME, AS9100, NADCAP.
- Proficient in operating UT equipment (conventional and digital).
- Strong analytical and defect-evaluation skills.
- Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Prior experience in aerospace/manufacturing industries preferred.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality.
