About AnshAnsh, a Charity Entrepreneurship incubated charity, is dedicated to saving newborn lives by building healthcare capacity in government district hospitals in India. Our mission is to create a scalable and cost-effective model that implements Kangaroo care and other impact-focused newborn care practices such as breastfeeding counselling, monitoring of danger signs, IPC (Infection Prevention and Control) measures, counselling in best newborn care practices, and closely working with the hospital on making these services long-term and sustainable.

Our main intervention is Kangaroo Care , a highly cost-effective and scientifically proven intervention for saving newborn lives. Kangaroo Care has three components:Skin-to-Skin Contact: Skin-to-skin contact with the mother regulates the infant’s body temperature, reducing hypothermiaClose Monitoring: Monitoring mothers and newborns for danger signsExclusive Breastfeeding: Exclusive breastfeeding provides benefits to the infant's immune system and helps in weight gain

Currently,

we have 55 on-ground full-time staff

delivering our programs in four hospitals—Pali District Hospital and Baran DH, Dhaulpur DH, and Pratapgarh DH of Rajasthan—with the aim to replicate and adapt this model for broader implementation in public health systems.

We run two KMC programs in all of our hospitals:KMC in Post Natal Care (PNC) Ward Program for Stable Low Birth Weight and Preterm NewbornsEarly Initiation of KMC in Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) Program for Unstable Low Birth Weight and Preterm Newborns

Main model components areRepurpose some space in the health facilities and create dedicated space for Kangaroo CareRecruit health workers to act as dedicated Kangaroo Care counselors for mothersProvide training to clinicians and nurses on supporting and managing kangaroo care and other components of the programFollow up with mothers after discharge to ensure continued behavioral change and monitor the newborn for any danger signs

Position OverviewThe Training and Capacity Building Associate plays an essential role in sustaining and growing Ansh’s KMC programs in Rajasthan. They will work closely with our on-ground nursing staff (ANMs, Nurse Practitioners, Senior Nursing staff, other healthcare workers as well as the program management staff, ensuring effective and impactful educational facilitation in Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC).

Our nurse training program is designed to be an interactive and experiential learning module and therefore the Nurse Education Facilitator must have excellent communication skills in Hindi, Marwadi/Regional Rajasthani Languages, and English, and be able to deliver impactful learning experiences for our staff.

They will be trained directly by Ansh to provide effective and impactful educational facilitation for our on-ground nursing staff.

Key ResponsibilitiesThe Training and Capacity Building Associate will play a crucial role in monitoring the daily performance metrics of nursing staff across all facilities and conduct regular in-person training sessions every few weeks for ongoing skill development and knowledge reinforcement.

This position involves tracking data, evaluating nurses’ performance, maintaining healthy feedback loops with the nurses, assisting with training sessions, and supporting the scaling of our programs efficiently and cost-effectively. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, combined with a knack for empathetic communication, attention to detail, and a passion for improving healthcare delivery.

Daily Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze daily performance metrics of nursing staff in all facilities, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality standards.Training Support: Assist in the coordination and facilitation of training sessions for nursing staff, ensuring effective delivery of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) and related training programs.Specialized Training Sessions: Conduct specialized training on neonatal care, infection prevention and control (IPC), and breastfeeding techniques to enhance nursing staff competenciesBehavior Change Communication: Facilitate training sessions focused on behavior change communication techniques to promote effective patient education and support among nursing staff.Counseling Sessions: Organise and facilitate weekly counseling sessions with nurses in our District Hospital facilities, to address challenges, provide support, and enhance skills in KMC and related practices.Feedback and Evaluation: Provide constructive feedback to nursing staff based on performance data, supporting continuous improvement and professional development.Reporting: Prepare regular reports on performance metrics and training outcomes, presenting findings to management and making recommendations for enhancements.Collaboration: Work closely with nursing staff, healthcare workers, and program management to foster a culture of continuous improvement and effective communication.Ad Hoc Support: Provide immediate support to nurses, addressing concerns, clarifying doubts, and offering guidance as needed.Curriculum Enhancement: Incorporate new evidence-based practices and guidelines into the training curriculum to continuously improve the effectiveness of training programs.Experiential Learning: Enhancing Ansh’s pedagogy to involve more activity-based learning/learning by doing.

Someone who strongly values the importance of effective and innovative pedagogy along with high impact work.Minimum Qualification : Diploma in general nursing and midwifery, additionally a degree in social work/certification in healthcare management preferred.Reasonable understanding of international standards of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC)Experience in a healthcare setting, with a focus on performance evaluation or program coordination.Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data tracking and reporting tools.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse teams.Excellent oral and written Hindi and English skills, and adept at getting information across in simple languageExperience in working on basic Google WorkspaceAgile, able to work flexibly, and enjoy working in a startup environment where the needs are likely to change week to week.Passionate about contributing to Ansh’s mission and impact; and driven to save newborn lives.
