The HSE Manager is responsible for implementing and sustaining a positive health, safety, and environmental culture across low-complexity sites. This includes developing and executing strategic plans, ensuring compliance with Cummins internal standards and external regulations, and driving continuous improvement in HSE performance. The role requires strong leadership, regulatory expertise, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards across multiple sites.
  • Manage incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions, including LOTO program implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE regulatory requirements (e.g., MPCB, DISH, EPR, BRSR) and facilitate regulatory inspections.
  • Conduct risk assessments, emergency preparedness drills, and contractor safety programs.
  • Oversee HSE data evaluation, reporting, and improvement planning using systems like Enablon.
  • Drive HSE performance improvements through data-driven strategies and risk-based approaches.
  • Lead daily HSE operations, including compliance, resource management, pollution prevention, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain HSE documentation and training content in compliance with data privacy regulations.
  • Coach and develop HSE teams (5+ members) and cross-functional leaders to build a strong safety culture.
  • Interface with external regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and compliance.
  • Conduct annual HSE management system reviews and lead internal/external audits.
  • Promote ESG awareness and integrate sustainability into HSE practices.

External Qualifications and Competencies
Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Health, Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, CSP, CIH) preferred.
  • Knowledge of ESG frameworks and sustainability reporting is a plus.

Skills and Experience

  • 1012 years of experience in HSE management, preferably in automotive, FMCG, or high-speed manufacturing industries.
  • Proven experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 implementation.
  • Strong background in regulatory compliance, incident management, and risk mitigation.
  • Experience managing HSE teams across multiple plants.
  • Familiarity with robotic controls and welding safety is preferred.
  • Proficiency in HSE data systems (e.g., Enablon) and performance reporting.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional environments and regulatory engagement.
