Job PurposeThe Vendor Development Person is responsible to develop vendors ensuring adequate supply of components for existing/New products as per design changes, / capacity enhancements/ replacements within the cost, quantity and quality targets. The incumbent will lead the team and monitor vendor management, vendor payment processing and vendor performance evaluation.
Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with various teams to understand product requirements and parts specificationsIdentify potential suppliers and send RFQ to them based on part design and bill of materials received from current engineering teamLiaise with vendors/ suppliers on a regular basis for sourcing of components and partsGauge capability of suppliers by conducting design for manufacturing (DFM) discussions with suppliersCollaborate with cross-functional teams to identify modifications/ changes required and work towards reducing rejection rates of incoming partsReview order status and ensure adherence to Direct on line targets and business plan targets/vehicleCalculate target costing for components in collaboration with the Cost Management team and ensure that proposed suppliers meet the target bandEvaluate performance and propose suppliers based on suitable evaluation in collaboration with the Quality Assurance teamProvide technical guidance (mechanical and engineering feedback) to shortlisted suppliers in order to meet component reliability, supply chain efficiency and overall cost reductionSupervise supplier quality engineers responsible for component release; conduct component inspection auditsResolve quality issues and monitor corrective procedures as per guidelines specified by quality assuranceEnsure completion of the Product Part Approval process in collaboration with Current Engineering and Quality assurance teamEnsure a smooth handover to procurement team for sourcing material for start of production runs
Hardware & S/W : TFT Cluster, VCU, Telematics developmentShould have experience in development of TFT Clusters, VCU, TelematicsExperience in Hardware & Software understanding on the development of TFT Clusters, VCU & TelematicsShould have experience in TFT parts sourcing, Vendor Development, Costing, Negotiation and Price SettlementShould have the exposure in Cost estimation for the TFT Cluster, VCU & TelematicsE- Component knowledgeShould have the knowledge on Supplier base on EV componentsShould have the knowledge on EMS Suppliers, Proto development, Price settlements etc.,Awareness of Market Trends, Domestic & Global gov’t policies, Impact analysis, Competitive Benchmark data, Market IntelligenceAwareness on Automotive standards / Testing related to TFT Cluster & CertificationWorking knowledge of manufacturing and system processes (PPAP, APQP)SAP MM & PLM user experience
Work ExperienceEducationB.E. / B. Tech in Electrical & Electronics / Power Electronics / ECE
Experience10 + years’ experience in the vendor development function in the automobile industry (OEMs, ancillaries)
