About the RoleWe are looking for a highly skilled Optical Navigation and Object Tracking Engineer to join our team, specializing in the development of real-time object detection and tracking algorithms for UAV applications. This role focuses on the integration of optical and infrared (IR) imaging systems, sensor fusion, and advanced machine learning techniques to enhance UAV autonomy and precision in dynamic environments. You will work closely with the UAV control system team to achieve seamless integration and ensure optimal performance during mission-critical operations.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop and optimize object detection and tracking algorithms for UAVs, focusing on real-time performance in optical and infrared (IR) imaging systems.Implement sensor fusion algorithms combining optical navigation, GPS, and IMU data for autonomous flight in dynamic environments.Collaborate with the UAV control system team to integrate object tracking with navigation systems to ensure precise targeting and trajectory management.Research and develop advanced machine learning models for visual object detection and classification, leveraging real-time video feeds.Test and validate object tracking algorithms in simulated and real-world flight scenarios, ensuring reliability in mission-critical operations.

QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or related field.3+ years of experience in developing computer vision algorithms for UAV or robotics applications.Strong experience in Python, C++, OpenCV, and TensorFlow/PyTorch for object detection and tracking.Knowledge of sensor fusion techniques and integrating vision systems with inertial navigation systems (INS).Experience with infrared and RGB camera systems, including calibration and image processing techniques.Familiarity with UAV-specific challenges, such as low-latency video processing and real-time decision-making.
