You will work with a forward-thinking cybersecurity specializing in developing cutting-edge browser extensions that protect businesses from emerging threats targeting SaaS applications and identity systems. Their mission is to enhance detection capabilities within the browser, stay ahead of attackers, and establish them as thought leaders in the cybersecurity community. They are seeking a highly skilled Senior Threat Researcher to lead efforts in researching the latest SaaS identity attacks—including last mile reconstruction attacks, Evilginx attacks, and other advanced threats—developing detection methodologies within the browser extension, contributing to their GitHub projects, and engaging with the cybersecurity community through outbound communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advanced Threat Research & Detection Development:
- Conduct in-depth research on the latest SaaS identity attacks, such as last mile reconstruction attacks and Evilginx attacks.
- Develop innovative detection techniques and algorithms to enhance browser extension's capabilities against these advanced threats.
- Red Teaming & Offensive Security:
- Simulate real-world attack scenarios, including sophisticated phishing and man-in-the-middle attacks, to test and improve detection capabilities.
- Identify vulnerabilities in SaaS applications and browser environments that could be exploited by advanced attack techniques.
- Provide insights to refine product's security features based on red team findings.
- Thought Leadership & Outbound Communication:
- Share research findings on advanced attack methods with the cybersecurity community through blogs, whitepapers, conference presentations, and webinars.
- Contribute to GitHub repositories by releasing tools, scripts, or datasets that aid in detecting and preventing advanced threats.
- Engage with industry peers on forums, social media, and at events to build reputation as thought leaders.
- Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing:
- Work closely with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to align research outcomes with product development.
- Mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Community Engagement & Open-Source Contribution:
- Participate in open-source projects related to SaaS security and browser-based threat detection.
- Lead initiatives to build and expand GitHub presence, encouraging community contributions and collaborations.
- Experience:
- - 5+ years of experience in threat research, red teaming, or offensive security.
- - Proven expertise in researching and detecting advanced attacks like last mile reconstruction attacks and Evilginx attacks.
- - Experience in developing detection techniques within browser extensions or similar platforms.
- - Active involvement in the cybersecurity community through publications, presentations, or open-source contributions.
- Technical Skills:
- Deep understanding of browser security, SaaS applications, and identity management systems.
- Familiarity with browser extension APIs and development across different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of advanced attack techniques, including OAuth abuse, token theft, sophisticated phishing attacks, Evilginx, and last mile reconstruction attacks.
- Experience with security tools and frameworks such as Burp Suite, Metasploit, and tools for simulating advanced phishing and man-in-the-middle attacks.
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and common web vulnerabilities (XSS, CSRF, injection attacks).
