Position : Freight Forwarding Operations Manager & Founder MentorIndustry:Shipping, Freight Forwarding & LogisticsExperience:5–7 YearsEngagement:Full-timeLocation:India (Remote)Start Date:ImmediateSalary:60K INR (negotiable for strong candidates)Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and managedaily freight forwarding operations(import/export – sea, air, and road)HandleFCL, LCL, air cargo, courier, consolidations , and cross-trade shipmentsPrepare, review and manage allshipping & customs documentation(BL, AWB, invoices, packing lists, DOs, manifests, etc.)Coordinate withshipping lines, airlines, NVOCCs, transporters, customs brokers, overseas agents, and clientsBuild and implement SOPs, workflows, and basic KPIsfor enquiries, quotations, bookings, execution, and billingNegotiatefreight rates and local chargeswith carriers and agents to maintain healthy marginsTrain andmentor the founderon:Pricing logic, rate sheets, and margin structuresIncoterms, free time, demurrage/detention, surchargesHow frauds, margin skimming or misuse of contracts can happen – and how to prevent themCreate simpledashboards/reportsfor shipment status, profit per job, client performance, and vendor performanceCoordinate closely withaccountsfor billing, collections, and credit controlSupport futureteam building(operations, documentation, and possibly sales) as the business growsRequired Expertise5–7 yearsexperience infreight forwarding / logisticswith a forwarder, NVOCC, or logistics companyStrong knowledge of:Sea freight(FCL / LCL)Air freightCross-border road freight (preferred)Solid understanding of:Incoterms , HS codes, basic customs proceduresExport/import workflows from at least one major region (Middle East / India / Asia / Europe)Experience in:Independentoperations handlingfrom quotation to deliveryRate negotiationwith carriers and overseas agentsHandling shipment issues (rollovers, delays, space issues, demurrage, detention, short-shipment, etc.)Prior exposure toUAE / India trade lanesis a plus⚙️Technical & Management SkillsComfortable usingfreight / logistics ERP, TMS or shipment tracking systemsStrong analytical & problem-solvingmindset for cost, routing, and margin optimizationBasic understanding ofcredit control and riskin freight (credit days, exposure, carrier payment terms)Knowledge ofcompliance, documentation accuracy, and regulatory requirementsAbility to design simple SOPs and controlsto prevent leakage, kickbacks, or rate manipulation✅Ideal Candidate TraitsProactive operator withstrong ownership mentalityEnjoys teaching and explaining– willing to let the founder shadow calls and operationsHands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable in astartup, zero-structure environmentTransparent, ethical, and strict about clean dealings & margin protectionAble to run operations independentlywhile building a foundation for future growth
