Data Center Services Consulting

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Development Manager (BDM) to lead our Data Center Services Consulting practice. This role will focus on enhancing Schneider Electric's presence and capabilities within the Data Center market.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Center Consulting & Design:
    • Design and manage complex data center projects utilizing knowledge of data center redundancy, operation, and installation practices.
    • Develop strategies for optimizing data center thermal flow, humidity, air quality, and overall environmental conditions.
    • Oversee the design, installation, and commissioning of data center equipment including electrical power panels, power transformers, UPS systems, generators, fire suppression systems, CCTV, and BMS software systems.
    • Design and execute the project of installation of physical data center equipment like HT/LT electrical power panels, power transformers, UPS systems, 48V DC systems, generators, earthing system, lightning arrester system, foam fire suppression & gas fire suppression systems, CCTV, access control systems, fire alarm systems, water leak detection systems, and raised floors.
    • Asset Management and Document Management: Prepare data center layout to maintain client rack details, CRAC unit, and UPS PDU details. Label racks, power cables, and data cables and maintain records.
    • Access Control and Security Management: Ensure safe access to data center visitors and follow standard data center access procedures.
    • Operation and Maintenance Knowledge: Data centre cooling units, hot aisle and cold aisle design racks installation, hot aisle containment systems.
    • Preparation of daily reports, incident reports, method statements, and standard operation procedure.
    • PUE (Power Usage Efficiency) Calculation.
    • Risk assessment and fire evacuation procedures.
  • International Standards Auditing:
    • Conduct audits according to recognized industry standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, TIA, ASHRAE) to ensure compliance with best practices for data center design, operation, and energy management.
  • Risk Management & System Assessment:
    • Evaluate data center electrical and mechanical systems for Single Point of Failure (SPOF) vulnerabilities.
    • Lead risk assessments, fire evacuation procedures, and ensure all systems are optimized for performance, security, and safety.
  • Energy & Power Quality Audits:
    • Lead power quality and energy audits to identify opportunities for improvement in data center energy usage and efficiency.
    • Conduct PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) calculations and develop strategies to improve energy efficiency.
  • Team Training & Development:
    • Lead training efforts to ensure team members stay updated on industry advancements, safety regulations, and operational protocols.
    • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Compliance & Safety Standards:
    • Ensure adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) policies and local electrical power systems and fire system procedures.
    • Work to ensure the safety and compliance of all consulting projects.
Requirements:
  • Technical Expertise:
    • In-depth knowledge of data center systems, including electrical, mechanical, cooling, fire suppression, and security systems.
    • Expertise in system redundancies, thermal flow analysis, and CFD analysis.
  • Industry Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of Uptime Institute, TIA, and ASHRAE standards for data center design and operation.
  • Experience in Audits & Risk Assessments:
    • Proven experience conducting energy and power quality audits and system risk assessments in large-scale data centers.
  • Project Management Skills:
    • Ability to manage and execute large-scale projects, from design to installation, ensuring efficient timelines and budget management.
  • Communication & Leadership:
    • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders.
    • Proven leadership ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Certifications:
    • Certifications in relevant standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, ASHRAE) and project management are a plus.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering (Master's degree or MBA preferred).
  • Experience: 10-12 years of experience in the electrical engineering domain, with proven expertise in site execution of systems such as switchgear, transformers, protection devices, and energy audits.
  • Consulting Experience: Consulting experience with Big 4 or equivalent firms in the power and energy sector will be an added advantage.
