Janaagraha is a non-profit trust, established in 2001, working towards the mission of transforming quality of life in India’s cities and towns. It works with citizens to catalyse active citizenship in city neighbourhoods and with governments to institute reforms to city governance (what we call “City-Systems”). Janaagraha is part of the JANA Group - one of India’s best-known groups of not-for-profit institutions working towards the mission of fixing India’s cities.Swati Ramanathan and Ramesh Ramanathan co-founded Jana Group in 2001 and it presently works across citizen participation and city governance reforms (through
Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy ), city planning and design (through
Jana Urban Space Foundation ), municipal consulting services (through
Jana Urban Services for Transformation Pvt. Ltd. ), banking and financial services for the urban poor (through
Jana Small Finance Bank ) and affordable housing for the urban poor (through
Janaadhar ).
People and Culture is a critical support function for Janaagraha. The function ensures Janaagraha delivers on its mission by providing expertise and support in the areas of talent acquisition, talent management, learning and development, statutory compliance, and employee engagement.
We are looking for a highly competent, passionate professional to join the People and Culture function for Janaagraha. This role will report to the Head – People and Culture, and will be based out of Bengaluru.
What will the Manager – People and Culture really do?
Employee EngagementDevelop and implement creative and cost-effective ways to improve employee satisfaction and motivation.Roll out the annual engagement surveys, analyse the data and review the report with the senior leadership team to address the findings and action required.Roll out the annual engagement calendar with details on various events and activities aimed towards improving the employee motivation and moraleLiaise with internal and external partners for all the events and convening.Performance ManagementEnsure goal setting and quarterly review processes are completed on time and documentedEngage with external market and perform benchmark surveys for compensation as neededManage the end to end annual appraisal process and work with management team to close out the appraisal cycle on time.Learning and DevelopmentWork with Senior leadership team, the Program Heads and the external partners to put together the annual L & D calendar and implement the same.Run timely surveys to gather feedback from staff on the training programs conducted.Organizational CultureReview/ introduce/ establish policies and practices to ensure Janaagraha becomes a more inclusive work place.Ensure a vibrant and positive work culture is maintained across locations and implement activities to achieve high employee motivation and morale.OthersPrepare MIS Reports and dashboards, present to leadership as to help analyse impact of policies and practicesResearch into emerging trends, issues and best practices in HR and evaluate for implementation
Qualifications and ExperienceMBA or an equivalent Master’s degree in management with Human Resources as specialization;Between 8-12 years of relevant experience in a similar role;Prior experience of working in a not-for-profit is preferred though not mandatory.
