The main areas of responsibility for the Business Controller:

  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end closing, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in line with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, and other ad-hoc reporting.
  • Function as the main finance contact for assigned customer accounts to advise managers on customer performance and support Sales and Customer Services Managers (CSMs) to drive customer revenue and margins.
  • Ensure that proper governance principles are applied in all aspects of accounting.
  • Proactively manage issues. Prioritize and make decisions as necessary to authorize and facilitate daily/monthly operations.
  • Conduct gap analysis against budget/forecasts and actual results ensuring sound, transparent accurate, and timely reporting. Support business to identify areas of improvement.
  • Understand IT operations and activities and translate these into financial control objectives.
  • Provide regional Finance and Group Finance with clear, accurate and timely information and reports.
  • Resolve all queries timeously.
  • Liaise with Customer contacts when required.
  • Ensure timeous and accurate billing to customers and subsequent collection of amounts due with support from the applicable teams in Getronics.
  • Ensure the taxation impact of all transactions is evaluated with support from the regional Finance team and the tax advisors (VAT, GST, and Withholding taxes as well as transfer pricing).
  • Participate in audit processes (external statutory as well as any other audits) and ensure that timelines are met.
  • Participate in the review of new customer bids and ensure that all Finance and Taxation aspects of the new bid are considered and all exposure to Getronics mitigated.
  • Give advice and guidance on technical controlling and accounting issues and working practices. Be a major contributor to control targets and initiatives. Use and promote best practices in Finance. Share information for the success & development of colleagues and the business.
  • Liaise with Local Finance as well as Group Finance as necessary and assist with any ad hoc requests.
  • Function as a backup to other controllers in the event of leave.
  • Support regional Finance and central Finance team when requested to assist.
  • Ensure that all vendor engagement aligns with the Group’s procurement processes.

Requirements:

  • Accounting graduate with a few years’ experience in general accounting.
  • Proven track record in financial control, preferably in a multinational unit.
  • Experience in reporting in an IFRS environment as well as previous VAT exposure will be preferred.
  • Advanced user of MS Excel and SAP. ARIBA knowledge will be useful.
  • Be able to make quick and effective decisions within the set guidelines. Have the capacity to operate at a high level of responsibility within the organization. Maintain a helicopter view of issues and their interactivity.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills are required with fluency in English both verbal and written (professional level)
  • The ability to work within and communicate with multinational teams and customers is essential (hands-on mentality)
  • A ‘can-do’ mentality and an ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Flexible to adapt to changing requirements.
  • A collaborative approach requires and willing to share knowledge and expertise to the benefit of the greater team.
