Job Summary:
The IBM AIX Server Engineer Specialist will be responsible for providing expert-level remote support for IBM AIX servers. This role requires deep knowledge of IBM AIX server environments, migration experience to Microsoft platforms, and storage management. The specialist will ensure optimal performance, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IBM AIX servers and related systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide remote support for IBM AIX server environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Perform system administration tasks, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of IBM AIX servers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software issues related to IBM AIX servers.
- Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to improve server performance.
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies.
- Manage and maintain storage solutions, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Plan and execute migrations from IBM AIX servers to Microsoft platforms.
- Maintain documentation of server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and support of IBM AIX servers within the broader IT infrastructure.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices related to IBM AIX server management, Microsoft migration, and storage solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of experience in IBM AIX server administration and support.
- Proven experience in migrating from IBM AIX servers to Microsoft platforms.
- Extensive knowledge of IBM AIX hardware, operating systems, and related technologies.
- Strong experience in storage solutions and management.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
- Experience with virtualization technologies and cloud environments is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote work environment.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert - Power Systems, Microsoft Certified Professional) are highly desirable.
