Senior Manager – Environmental/Green Commodities Trading

We seek an experienced and dynamic Senior Manager of Environmental/Green Commodities Trading to lead our trading team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and experience in environmental commodities, including carbon credits, renewable energy certificates, green hydrogen and other sustainability-related instruments. This individual will develop and execute strategic partnerships, drive sales and procurement processes, and manage a high-performing team. The Senior Manager will play a pivotal role in business development and will be instrumental in achieving our company's sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive trading strategies for Environmental/Green commodities to achieve business objectives.
    • Identify and establish strategic partnerships to enhance trading opportunities and market presence.
    • Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions.
  • Sales and Procurement:
    • Oversee the sales and procurement processes for Environmental/Green credits and commodities, ensuring optimal pricing and contract terms.
    • Build and maintain relationships with key clients, suppliers, and stakeholders to drive growth and profitability.
    • Negotiate contracts and manage trading transactions to maximize value and minimize risk.
  • Team Management:
    • Led and mentored a large, diverse team of traders, analysts, and support staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
    • Set performance targets, conduct regular reviews, and implement development plans to enhance team capabilities.
    • Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards in all trading activities.
  • Business Development:
    • Identify new business opportunities and markets for Environmental/Green commodities.
    • Develop and execute business development plans to expand the company's portfolio and market share.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align trading activities with overall business strategy and goals.
  • Performance Analysis and Reporting:
    • Analyze trading performance, market conditions, and financial reports to inform decision-making.
    • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on trading activities, performance metrics, and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Environmental Science, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA, Master's in Environmental Management) is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in Environmental/Green commodities trading, with a proven track record of success.
    • Having one-on-one relationships with the clients.
    • Having high calibre towards trading of Environmental/Green commodities every week.
    • Extensive experience in creating strategic partnerships and improving sales and procurement processes.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a large team, with strong leadership and mentoring skills.
    • Solid experience in business development and market expansion within the sustainability sector.
    • Regular insight on market dynamics and best practices landscape.
  • Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of Environmental/Green commodities markets, including carbon credits, renewable energy certificates, and related instruments.
    • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset.
    • Proficiency in trading platforms and relevant software.
