Infrastructure Competency Lead

Job description: Role Overview The Infrastructure Competency Lead  is responsible for developing, standardizing, and scaling infrastructure management capabilities across Cloud, Hybrid, and Edge environments . This role focuses on technical excellence, reusable IP creation, delivery enablement, and talent readiness , ensuring the organization is future-ready in CloudOps, SRE, Automation, Observability, and AI-led Operations (AIOps) . The individual will work closely with delivery, pre-sales, and L&D teams to define competency frameworks, build accelerators, and drive innovation across Infrastructure Services offerings. Key Responsibilities Competency Development & Capability Building Define the competency strategy and roadmap  for Cloud Infrastructure and Operations aligned to business priorities. Establish skill taxonomies and capability matrices  for roles across InfraOps, CloudOps, and SRE tracks. Build and lead Centers of Excellence (CoEs)  for: Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Automation Platform Engineering & SRE Monitoring, Observability & AIOps ITSM, ITOM & Service Reliability frameworks Partner with L&D and OEMs to create learning and certification roadmaps  (AWS, Azure, Red Hat, Terraform, Kubernetes, etc.). Solution Excellence & Standardization Create reference architectures, IaC templates, and reusable modules  for infrastructure deployments and operations. Standardize runbooks, automation scripts, monitoring frameworks, and operational blueprints  across environments. Define and maintain infrastructure delivery frameworks  (e.g., CloudOps Framework, SRE Maturity Model, Automation Playbook). Drive adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code, Configuration-as-Policy, and GitOps  practices across teams. Support solution architects in designing scalable, resilient, and cost-optimized infrastructure solutions. Innovation, AI & Automation Lead initiatives in AI-driven Operations (AIOps)  — predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and autonomous remediation. Develop automation accelerators  using Python, Terraform, Ansible, or ServiceNow for provisioning, patching, and incident response. Evaluate and introduce next-gen infrastructure technologies  — Edge computing, Serverless Ops, FinOps, and Green IT. Build internal platform engineering toolchains  integrating CI/CD, security, observability, and compliance as code. Collaboration & Enablement Partner with delivery teams  to uplift capabilities and ensure consistent delivery quality across infrastructure engagements. Support sales and pre-sales  in technical reviews, solution validation, and value engineering of infrastructure proposals. Collaborate with alliances and OEMs  (Microsoft, AWS, Red Hat, HashiCorp, ServiceNow) for enablement, co-innovation, and go-to-market readiness. Drive cross-practice collaboration  with Security, Cloud, and DevOps competency leads for end-to-end integrated solutions. Governance, Metrics & Continuous Improvement Define competency KPIs and dashboards  – certifications achieved, automation coverage, reusable asset adoption, and operational maturity. Continuously measure and enhance delivery readiness, quality metrics, and standardization compliance  across teams. Gather feedback from projects to refine frameworks and accelerate delivery efficiency. Foster a continuous improvement and learning culture  across the infrastructure organization. Core Competencies & Skills Technical Expertise Deep understanding of Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure architectures  (compute, network, storage, backup, DR, etc.). Strong expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation)  and Automation (Ansible, PowerShell, Python) . Proficiency in Kubernetes, Container Orchestration, and Platform Engineering  principles. Knowledge of Monitoring and Observability stacks  — Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk, etc. Experience with AIOps , event correlation, and automation platforms (ServiceNow, Moogsoft, BMC, BigPanda). Solid understanding of ITSM, ITOM, and SRE principles  (SLIs, SLOs, Error Budgets). Leadership & Soft Skills Strong mentoring ability to develop deep technical skills and engineering culture across teams.
