About the job

Quartic.ai is a SaaS industrial-AI start-up in the business of accelerating the adoption of Industry 4.0. In other words, we allow manufacturers to extract more value from their legacy infrastructure and build Smart Manufacturing Factories. We do this with our Smart Industry platform which puts power directly into the hands of subject matter experts (SMEs) and solves key challenges faced by process manufacturing industries when implementing digital transformation. Using Quartic Platform, the SMEs are able to create and deploy AI and IIoT applications to significantly increase productivity and operational performance without the need for proficiency in programming or data science. The Quartic Platform is used by Fortune 100 and 500 companies in pharmaceutical, food & beverage, CPG, and other industries for process optimization, predictive maintenance, and energy optimization applications.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist with a deep understanding of statistical methodologies, mathematical optimization and machine learning. The ideal candidate will be proficient in designing and implementing advanced statistical models to drive data-driven decision-making. This role requires strong analytical skills, a solid foundation in statistical inference and classical machine learning, and experience applying statistical techniques to real-world business problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product design and engineering teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
  • Collect, process, and analyze datasets to extract meaningful insights.
  • Develop and implement statistical & machine learning models and algorithms to address business challenges.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve issues in data pipelines, machine learning models, and production systems to ensure seamless operation.
  • Communicate findings to stakeholders through clear and effective data visualizations and reports.

Requirements:

  • Master's or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics or a related STEM field.
  • Deep knowledge of statistical inference, vector calculus, linear algebra and classical machine learning (especially decision trees, PCA, PLS and Bayesian statistics).
  • 3+ years of experience in data science or machine learning environments that requires the combined application of statistical & technical skills
  • Excellent development skills in Python
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex statistical concepts into practical business applications.
  • A collaborative team player with hands-on experience in an agile development environment.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with convex optimization
  • Familiarity of Kaggle competitions or similar data science challenges (please provide links to your Kaggle profile or notable competitions).
