Job Position : System Administrator (Linux).

Hiring Organization : National Informatics Centre Services Incorporated (NICSI).

Job Location : Onsite (New Delhi).

Experience Required : 5 Yrs+.

Education Background : BE/B. Tech (CS/IT/Electronics)/MCA/MSC (CS/IT).

Job Responsibilities :


Essential Tech Skills


Linux Operating Systems: In-depth knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, or Ubuntu distributions.


Server Management: Proficiency in server hardware, virtualization (e.g., VMware, KVM), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).


Networking: Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and network security principles.


Scripting: Expertise in shell scripting (Bash, Korn) and Python for automation.


Security: Knowledge of vulnerability assessment tools (Qualys), patching, and security best practices.


System Monitoring: Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix) for server performance and health.


Backup and Recovery: Proficiency in backup solutions (e.g., RMAN, Bacula) and disaster recovery Management: Understanding of storage systems (SAN, NAS), file systems, and storage Tech Skills :


- Configuration Management: Experience with tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.


- Database Administration: Knowledge of database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and administration.


- ITIL Framework: Understanding of ITIL processes for service management.


- IT Security Certifications: Certifications like CISSP, CISA, or Security+.


- KRAs for System Administrator (Linux)


Server Management :


- Efficiently manage and maintain Linux servers, ensuring optimal performance, uptime, and resource utilization.


Security Compliance :


- Proactively identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities through regular scanning, patching, and implementing security best practices.


System Uptime :


- Maintain high server availability through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and timely resolution of issues.


Incident Management :


- Respond effectively to system incidents, minimizing downtime and service disruptions.


Capacity Planning :


- Assess and plan for future server capacity requirements based on workload and growth :


- Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors.


User Support :


- Provide timely and effective support to users regarding server-related issues.


Documentation :


- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.


Compliance :


- Ensure adherence to organizational security policies and compliance standards.


Continuous Improvement :


- Identify opportunities to enhance server performance, reliability, and security through process improvement initiatives.
