Job Title Data Governance Lead

Job Description

As the Data Governance lead you are responsible for

  • Governance Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive governance strategy, ensuring adherence to data management and security policies.

  • Data Cataloging: Establish and maintain a data catalog that documents the available datasets within the Data Lake, including metadata, data lineage, and data quality metrics.

  • Data Access and Security: Define and enforce access controls and data security measures, ensuring appropriate levels of data privacy, confidentiality, and compliance with relevant regulations.

  • Data Quality Management: Implement data quality standards and procedures to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data stored in the Data Lake.

  • Data Lifecycle Management: Define data retention, archival, and deletion policies to optimize storage costs and comply with data governance requirements.

  • Data Lake Architecture: Collaborate with data architects and engineers to design and evolve the Data Lake architecture, considering scalability, performance, and security.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with business users, data owners, and other stakeholders to understand their data requirements, provide guidance on data governance best practices, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Compliance and Audit: Monitor and enforce compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies related to data governance and data privacy.

  • Documentation and Training: Develop and maintain documentation on data governance processes, policies, and procedures. Conduct training sessions for users and stakeholders on data governance principles and practices.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a customer-first attitude and the following

  • Data Governance Expertise: In-depth knowledge of data governance frameworks, methodologies, and best practices, with a focus on Data Lake environments.

  • Data Management: Familiarity with data management concepts, including data modeling, data integration, data quality, and data lifecycle management.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of data privacy regulations (, GDPR, CCPA) and industry-specific compliance requirements (, HIPAA, PCI-DSS). Preferred Health care background.

  • Data Security: Knowledge of data security principles and best practices, including encryption, access controls, and data masking.

  • Collaboration and Leadership: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and lead the implementation of data governance initiatives.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate complex concepts and requirements to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience: At least 10+ years of Experience in the data space within IT
