Position Overview:
Candidate will assist with the design, engineering, development, and support of information technology solutions. They will support the design, analysis, development, and implementation phase of Linux infrastructure solutions for small projects. Will assist in troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure compatibility issues based on system architecture, project requirements, and customer expectations. Assists in the diagnosis and correction of application/network problems. Deploys patching, security updates and other activities during maintenance windows. Participates in the pilot of new technologies involving server, network, web, and database. Builds new Red Hat Linux servers / VMs. Assists other application and business teams with migration, change and checkout tasks. Position will involve the following technologies: Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Satellite, Ansible Automation Platform, Splunk, Dynatrace, Tanium, ServiceNow, CMDB, KVM, VMWare, CISCO UCS, VCE vBlock, Oracle, JBoss, Tomcat, NAS, BASH, IDM, Delinea Centrify, Ansible, Python, GIT, OpenShift, Putty, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, Webex.

Responsibilities:
The Infrastructure Advisor role for Linux will be responsible for day-to-day operational support incidents, requests, changes, tasks, and issues.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for design, systems management, patching, deployments, troubleshooting, and performance tuning for all Linux based operating systems.
  • Building out Linux VMs.
  • Responsible for recommending and implementing environment changes to maximize system availability.
  • Drive and automate patching and deployments using the latest technologies.
  • Effectively mesh various infrastructure components, such as servers, storage, networks, etc. to a service or application.
  • Manage workflow through ticket and change queues on a daily basis.
  • Document all operational processes and procedures.
  • Provide timely, creative, and alternative solutions to meet business needs.
  • Provide off-hours and on-call support.
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and testing exercises.
  • Provide regular and timely status updates to the engineering and other peer teams.

Qualifications
Required Skills:

  • Strong diagnostic skills aligned to all technologies listed above.
  • Ability to apply principles across technologies.
  • Experience with vendor case management.
  • Strong understanding of ServiceNow for tickets, changes and CMDB.
  • Proficient Linux administration skills in support of RHEL.
  • Proven experience with RHEL patching deployment and automation.
  • Ability to use the Dynatrace tool to diagnose and isolate issues.
  • Thorough working knowledge of VMWare and VMWare suite of products.
  • CISCO UCS and VCE vBlock experience is preferred.
  • Good understanding of networking and security concepts (switches, routers, firewall, etc)
  • Experience supporting Oracle, JBoss, Tomcat, and the IBM WebSphere suite of products is a definite plus.
  • Experience with Active Directory connected Linux servers.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to participate in simultaneous projects and prioritize effectively.
  • General knowledge of Ansible Automation and writing playbooks for server management.
  • Ability to mentor and cross train team members.

Required Experience & Education:

  • 11-13 proven years of experience performing this similar role.
  • A self-starter who is proactive in all aspects of the role.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Proficient organizational skills with the ability to work collaboratively with business partners.
  • Must be able to span technical organizations and understand dependencies of each.
  • Excellent communication, coaching and mentoring skills (knowledge sharing, peer guidance & support)
  • Must be proficient in all the following technologies: Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Satellite, IDM, Ansible Automation Platform, Splunk, Dynatrace, ServiceNow, CMDB, VMWare, CISCO UCS, VCE vBlock, NAS, BASH, Ansible, Python, GIT, OpenShift, Putty, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Webex.

Desired Experience:

  • Hands on experience in of the following technologies would be beneficial: Tanium, Guardium, Crowdstrike, KVM, Oracle, JBoss, Tomcat, Delinea Centrify.
