Expert Data Engineer

We are seeking a motivated data engineer, who will contribute to deliver end to end data pipelines to productive environments, working in tight partnership with peers, internal experts, and business clients to support, organize and lead various activities within the teamKey tasks:Understand business requirements and convert into technical specificationsUnderstand end to end application & integration landscapeBuild data pipelines to ingest data from source to enterprise data platformsDesign & build data models across multiple relational databasesBe the subject matter expert for data and integration related topicsBuild up sustainable relationships with key business and IT stakeholders in order to become a trusted partner along with the product ownerMeet with business stakeholders, understand the requirements and advise on efficient solutionsEnsure timely customer communication and coordination of follow-up activitiesApply and implement Agile Scrum and DevOps standard methodologies while driving the initiative forwardApply industry standard methodologies for data pipeline developmentYour main responsibilities are:As an Expert Data Engineer for digital solutions, you contribute by: Collaborating with the product owner to build a target architecture for the products in scope of the team and to determine how we can improve business processes and generate value. Advise on design practises needed for the squad on developing, integrating, managing digital solutions, services and reducing technical debts Collaborating with Engineering leads to ensure design decisions are aligned for the product area Perform peer code reviews. Present and communicate ideas and design to various stakeholder for review and brainstorming. Ensure technical design and implementation are in line with architecture and meet quality requirements (., performance, reliability, availability) Implement software engineering practices to ensure the quality, performance, and maintainability of our applications Mentor and support professional skill development of junior colleagues, addressing complex issues and sharing your experience with others A key member in squad and help the Product Owner to foster an agile mentality.About the team:The role is in the Integration team of the Data & Analytics Product Area which is developing and operating state of the art integrations at the Finance Division of Swiss Re.The integration team is globally distributed with the Produce Owner based in Bangalore and focuses on building and operating the future of integration for Finance as Swiss Re.The team builds on a lakehouse architecture using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake (Delta Lake) with Python being the main programming language and PySpark is used for large scale data engineering.About you:As a successful candidate for this role, you possessBachelor or Master's Degree in a relevant quantitative field, . Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics or other is an advantage8 to 12 years of experience in designing and implementing end to end data pipelines & data modelsStrong understanding of data engineering techniques with modern programming languages and analytical frameworks (proficient in Python, PySpark, SQL)Proficient in Spark based data lake & extended services like, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake etc.Expertise working with relational databases like Oracle/Azure SQL/ PostgresExperience with Integration technologies like REST/SOAP APIs, Event based architectureProblem-solving skills and commitment to quality and timely deliveryStrong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including clear articulation of technical topics to a non-technical audienceA desire to continuously upskill & stay relevant with emerging technologies.About Swiss ReSwiss Re is one of the world’s leading providers of reinsurance, insurance and other forms of insurance-based risk transfer, working to make the world more resilient.
