Position: Dot net Backend Engineer / API Developer

Location: Dubai

Experience: 8+ Years

Job Summary

The Backend Engineer / API Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining front-end API frameworks to meet business requirements. He/She will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration between internal/external systems and the Azure cloud environment . This position combines API development expertise with Azure cloud skills to build and optimize highly available, secure, and scalable API endpoints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain APIs using designated programming languages.
  • Collaborate with Azure Data Engineers to ensure seamless integration of API functionality with the data platform.
  • Onboard external systems to integrate with the API framework for data exchange in batch/real-time modes.
  • Develop, manage, and deploy secure, scalable, and efficient REST APIs to ingest data from external sources and expose endpoints for data extraction from the Azure storage layer.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Expert-level coding skills in RESTful API development in .Net .
  • Implement clean architecture, modularized programming, and relevant standards in API framework development.
  • Develop integration pipelines to push/pull data from Azure Blob Storage, Microsoft Fabric, and other sources .
  • Implement authentication and authorization of external data providers and consumers.
  • Optimize API performance, implement proper exception handling, logging, and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Integrate authentication via OAuth/Entra ID , and API Gateway design using Azure APIM .
  • Hands-on experience in implementing API security and load balancing using Azure App Gateway, WAF, Network Security Groups, DNS , etc.
  • Proficiency in API versioning, throttling, routing, and caching strategies .
  • Hands-on experience in Azure APIM, Swagger for API documentation and exposing APIs for testing.
  • Integrate API frameworks with internal and external systems, applications, and databases.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, including encryption, masking, and role-based access .
  • Build CI/CD pipelines and containerized applications for secure deployment on Azure.
  • Hands-on experience with Postman and automation suites.
  • Understanding of data privacy, PII handling, and compliance requirements .
  • Conduct stress testing on APIs and optimize performance to meet client expectations.
  • Ensure code quality and API functionality through unit testing, integration testing, performance testing, and code reviews .
  • Familiarity with PySpark and data engineering pipelines is a plus.
  • Ensure compliance with security and governance policies throughout the API development lifecycle.
  • Configure automated scaling solutions to handle workload fluctuations.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive architecture documentation , including diagrams, processes, and technical specifications.
