We are hiring a Costing Engineer for our European equipment and spare parts manufacturing client based in Pune.


Role Title: Engineer - Engineer Costing

Role Purpose: To assist, ease, and align the Costing segment in coordination with the Costing Team

Location: Shirwal

Qualification: BE Mechanical or Industrial

Experience: 2-5 years

Preferred Industry: Manufacturing industries like machinery, pump/valve, and food process equipment, etc.


Responsibilities & Key Result Areas (Impact on Business)

  • Manage costing activities including price calculation, RFQ (Domestic & International) response, estimation, technical discussions, and internal customer interactions.
  • Process cost accounting: responsible for the accurate reporting of cost of raw materials, machine costs, machine hour rate, labor costs, and manufacturing process costs.
  • Estimate costs for all types of processes such as machining, fabrication, press, bending, polishing, surface treatment, assembly, etc.
  • Validate cost estimation of all types of parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies.
  • Support product costing and cost reduction activities, including product cost estimation at various stages of new product development.
  • Define production process flow based on drawings and specifications for given parts and sub-assemblies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product manufacturing and project implementation.
  • Lead time studies in machine shop and assembly, comparing with AXAPTA timing (standard costing) and actual hours booking study, and develop action plans for variance.
  • Identify, develop, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Initiate and implement LEAN, productivity improvement, and cost reduction projects to optimize manufacturing operations.
  • Evaluate and improve employee tasks and responsibilities through motion studies and time studies to improve productivity.
  • Prepare Bill of Material, Process Flow Chart, Control Plan, PFMEA, Risk Analysis, etc.
  • Responsible for cost controlling and reporting of production orders and develop action plans for variance.
  • Work closely with product management and design teams to support product development activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues related to machining components, assemblies, and systems.
  • Evaluate current manufacturing processes, identifying opportunities for enhancement in efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage ERP/AXAPTA routing for production shop and assemblies.
  • Provide technical support to Purchasing & Sub-contracting team for cycle time estimation, costing, machining, and processing suppliers.
  • Maintain records and adhere to documents and procedures as per ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and quality standards.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to production teams.


Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Knowledge of parts costing, costing formulas, processes, and new product development/existing parts costing.
  • Working exposure to manufacturing processes of various engineering commodities like machining, fabrication, press, polishing, surface treatments, assembly, etc.
  • Exposure to advancements in process engineering technologies, methodologies, and best practices in manufacturing processes to enhance productivity and safety.
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing methodologies, machining, tooling systems, inserts, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC programming, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CAM software, ERP/AXAPTA software, MS Office.
  • Ability to design and develop tools, jigs, and fixtures to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of inspection and instruments.
  • Experience with ERP applications, preferably AXAPTA.
  • Experience in creating standard work instructions, process sheets, and control plans.
  • Familiarity with industry tools or standards.
  • Experience in assembly process sequence validation.
  • Experience in creating manufacturing bills of material (MBOM).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibility:

  • Cost estimation and cost validation.
  • Accurate reporting of costs.
  • Price calculations.
  • Product costing and cost reduction activities.
  • Lead time study in machine shop.

Authority:

  • Execute the above-mentioned work in association with and approvals from the department head.
