About Symbiosis Skills &Professional University:
Symbiosis Skills & Professional University, is Maharashtra’s first residential Skills University in India. The foundation stone of Symbiosis Skills & Professional University was laid at the auspicious hands of Shri. Devendra Fadnavis ji, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra on November 27th 2015 at Kiwale, Pune. The Symbiosis Skills & Professional University is located over 15 acres of land in PCMC - Kiwale area adjoining the Pune-Mumbai Expressway. The campus comprises of state of art academic & administrative blocks, hostels & residential facilities, workshops and center of excellence. Programs in high growth sectors such as Automobile, Construction, Mechatronics, Logistics, Retail, Hospital Administration, Beauty and Wellness, Architecture etc. is being offered to enable students to become industry ready and be gainfully employed. The University has collaborated with top industry for joint curricula development, skill training, on the job training and joint research projects. Centre of Excellence, labs, simulation software and training workshops has been created to impart skill & practical training.
Position Overview
Position: Director of Mechatronics
Location: Symbiosis Skills and Professional University, Pune
Experience: Minimum 10 years in academia and/orindustry, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
Education: Ph.D. in a relevantfield of Mechatronics/Electronic & Telecommunications Engineering/Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Department of Mechatronics in developing and implementing strategic plans, curricula, and research projects that align with Symbiosis University's goals and the evolving industry.
- Foster a research-driven environment that supports high-quality publications, grants, and collaborations with other academic and industry entities.
- Design and enhance curricula that balance theoretical and practical aspects, keeping pace with trends in automation, robotics, AI, and IoT in Mechatronics.
- Establish partnerships with leading companies for internships, research, and industry- sponsored projects, ensuring students gain hands-on experience.
- Oversee student engagement programs, advising initiatives, and mentorship opportunities, particularly for students specializing in robotics, automation, and other Mechatronics disciplines.
- Mentor and develop faculty within the department, promoting a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Manage departmental budgets, staff, and resources effectively to enhance productivity and academic output.
Qualification:
Educational Background: Ph.D. in a relevant fieldof Mechatronics/Electronic & Telecommunications Engineering/Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline.
Teaching Experience: Minimum of 10 years in academia, including undergraduate and graduate-level teaching.
Leadership Experience: At least 5 years as a Directoror in a comparable leadership role, with demonstrated success in strategic planning and departmental management.
Industry Experience: Hands-on experience in the mechatronics or automation industry, providing practical insights and expertise to guide the department’s academic and research focus.
