Join Our Team as a Professional Engineer (PE)
We are seeking an experienced Professional Engineer (PE) for a full-time, exempt salaried position. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment. This role involves performing civil and geotechnical engineering duties to support the design, construction, and management of public and private projects, and includes functional supervision over assigned personnel.
- Project Design and Planning: Prepare reports, designs, plans, and specifications for civil improvements on various projects including residential, commercial, and industrial developments.
- Systems Development: Design, permit, inspect, and manage the development of water systems, septic systems, and storm management facilities.
- Material Selection: Select, monitor, and inspect appropriate construction materials for use in projects.
- Regulatory Approvals: Work with agencies, jurisdictions, and clients to obtain planning and/or building regulation approvals.
- Professional Collaboration: Liaise with relevant professional staff such as architects or structural engineers.
- Stakeholder Communication: Respond to questions from contractors, public agencies, officials, and the general public regarding policies, procedures, and practices.
- Inspection and Monitoring: Monitor and inspect work undertaken by contractors.
- Project Management: Administer and manage private and public works for bid contracts and the various bidding components on projects. Assist in solving field problems in conjunction with Project and Construction Managers.
- Technical Reporting: Prepare technical reports on various civil engineering disciplines.
- Traffic Studies: Perform Traffic Studies to determine existing and projected level of service (LOS) standards on roads and intersections for project development.
- Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Professional Engineer (PE) experience, including relevant project design and construction management, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, certifications, and training.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in engineering computations and preparing engineering designs. Experience with computer-aided drafting programs (such as AutoCAD).
- Licensing: Certification as a Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training, or the ability to obtain Washington state registration within one year of hire. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Washington.
- Security Clearance: Ability to pass a federal background check and work on public works projects.
- Experience with computer-aided drafting programs (such as AutoCAD).
- Knowledge and use of Washington State Energy Code compliance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and phone systems (e.g., Mitel).
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations and standards for design, bidding, and construction.
- Skill in analyzing, interpreting, and preparing reports.
- Skills in oral and written communication.
- Ability to exercise professional engineering judgment to achieve results consistent with objectives.
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while standing or walking. The work is conducted in both office and outdoor environments, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.
- The employee may occasionally be exposed to machinery with moving parts.

Requirements
Two (2) years of Professional Engineer (PE) experience including relevant project design and construction management; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, certifications, and training.
