MEP Draftsman

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MEP Draftsman to join our team. The MEP Draftsman will be responsible for creating and modifying detailed drawings for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for real estate, construction, and infrastructure projects. The role requires proficiency in CAD software and a solid understanding of MEP systems, building codes, and industry standards. The MEP Draftsman will work closely with engineers, architects, and other project team members to ensure that designs are accurate and meet project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Drafting & Design:

- Create detailed MEP drawings (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) for building systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, fire protection, water supply, drainage, and other related systems.- Prepare layouts, schematics, single-line diagrams, sections, and elevations for MEP systems in compliance with project requirements and specifications.- Assist in converting conceptual designs into detailed construction-ready plans.- Revise and update drawings as necessary, reflecting changes or modifications in the design.

Collaboration:

- Work closely with MEP engineers, architects, and project managers to understand design requirements and provide technical input.- Collaborate with the construction team to ensure that the drafted plans are practical and executable on-site.- Coordinate with other disciplines (structural, civil, etc.) to ensure integration of all systems.

Quality Control & Compliance:

- Ensure that all MEP drawings are in compliance with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.- Maintain high accuracy and attention to detail, checking all drafts for errors before submission.- Follow established standards for drafting, ensuring consistency in design and presentation.

Software & Tools:

- Use AutoCAD, Revit, or other drafting software to create and modify drawings.- Prepare 3D models and BIM (Building Information Modeling) models for MEP systems when required.- Keep up to date with software updates and advancements in MEP design tools.

Documentation & Reporting:

- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of all design drafts, revisions, and updates.- Assist in preparing project submittals, as-built drawings, and technical reports as required.- Ensure proper filing and archiving of project drawings and related documentation.

Site Visits & Coordination:

- Conduct site visits when necessary to gather field data, inspect the implementation of MEP systems, and address any discrepancies between design and construction.- Provide technical support during construction, addressing any issues that arise related to MEP design and drawings.

Qualifications:

- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, or a related field.- Certification in AutoCAD or other relevant drafting software is highly preferred.- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in drafting MEP systems for construction or real estate projects.- Proven experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software for MEP drafting.- Familiarity with industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations.

Skills:

- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (or similar CAD software).- Good understanding of MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing design principles.- Knowledge of construction practices and the ability to interpret technical specifications.- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of drafting.- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
