At headspace, family is defined uniquely by each young person. Family is considered an integral part of a young person’s circle of care. Family and other caregivers – whether by birth, choice or circumstance – hold a significant role in supporting a young person by fostering a sense of belonging and connection through their shared experience. The headspace Armadale Family Reference Group allows for family and caregivers to share their valuable insights and unique perspectives based on their own experiences of headspace and/or the mental health system, and to contribute to the improvement of services and resources at headspace to best support young people. The Family Reference Group plays a large role in supporting headspace centres to: Deliver responsive and appropriate services for young people and their family Be a trusted and respected youth mental health provider Stimulate new ideas and improve services and resources Demonstrate inclusive organisational decision making Maintain connections within the local community As part of the Family Reference Group, you will have the opportunity to: Contribute meaningfully to enhancing the centre’s services and resources Be involved in decision making processes across different levels of the organisation Develop new and existing skill sets through free training opportunities Create new social networks Add value to the centre that makes a difference to young people and their family Commitment: We appreciate that family and caregivers lead busy lives, so we allow for flexible participation hours for our Family Reference Group members. There are six bi-monthly group meetings per year. Meeting participation will honoured through members receiving their choice of a $50 voucher. We communicate regularly via emails, and through our private FFRG Facebook page/messenger group. We value the unique input of people coming from all different walks of life and strongly encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures to apply and share their perspectives on youth mental health, emotional wellbeing, and how these may be improved in our community.
