Role Overview

Are you a design expert with a passion for creating cohesive and scalable design systems for mobile applications? Lowe’s is seeking a Senior Product Designer - Champion of Apps Design System to join our global design team. In this senior role, you will lead the development and maintenance of our mobile app design system, ensuring consistency, excellence, and a seamless user experience across all our mobile platforms.


Key Responsibilities

· Lead the creation, evolution, and maintenance of a comprehensive design system for Lowe’s mobile apps, including components, patterns, guidelines, and documentation.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and other designers, to ensure the design system meets the needs of all stakeholders and is implemented consistently across all mobile products.

· Conduct audits of existing mobile app designs to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to the design system.

· Mentor and provide guidance to other designers on best practices for using the mobile app design system, fostering a culture of consistency and quality.

· Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously evolve and improve the mobile app design system.

· Advocate for the importance of a robust design system in creating scalable and efficient design solutions for mobile applications.

· Conduct user research and usability testing to gather feedback and iterate on design system components specifically for mobile platforms.

· Ensure the mobile app design system is inclusive and accessible, meeting the needs of all users, including those with disabilities.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, HCI (Human-Computer Interaction), or a related field.

· Extensive portfolio demonstrating a strong track record in creating and maintaining design systems for mobile applications.

· Deep knowledge of popular design systems like Google Material Design and Apple Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) for Android and iOS.

· Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and other industry-standard software.

· In-depth knowledge of motion principles, typography, accessibility, and app design principles, as well as human interaction principles.

· Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale and influence stakeholders at all levels.

· Proven experience in leading design projects and mentoring junior designers.

· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· Passion for home improvement, ecommerce, or related fields, and a desire to make a meaningful impact on customers’ lives.


Preferred Qualifications

· Experience working in an agile development environment.

· Previous experience working in a global team and managing cross-cultural design challenges.

· Knowledge of mobile app accessibility standards and best practices.
