Role Overview

As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Bamko, you will play a crucial role in designing, managing, and optimizing our cloud infrastructure. Your main focus will be on automating processes, managing CI/CD pipelines, and enhancing system reliability and scalability. You will collaborate closely with the DevOps, Security, and IT Infrastructure teams to ensure seamless deployments and high availability of Bamko’s applications and services.



Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure and Cloud Management :

  • Architect, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring best practices in scalability, security, and reliability.
  • Optimize database performance, implement backup strategies, and manage disaster recovery solutions.
  • Manage and monitor AWS resources to ensure uptime, including load balancing, CDN, DNS, WAF, and more.


Automation and CI/CD :

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab and Jenkins to automate the deployment process and enhance developer productivity.
  • Lead automation initiatives, implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with tools like Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
  • Improve deployment and release processes to enable frequent and reliable releases.


Monitoring and Incident Management :

  • Set up and manage monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, New Relic, and UptimeKuma to track system performance and resolve issues proactively.
  • Develop and manage incident response procedures, ensuring quick resolution and root cause analysis for production issues.


Collaboration and Team Development :

  • Work closely with Development, Security, and Infrastructure teams to align deployment strategies with business needs.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior DevOps team members, helping to elevate the team’s skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to team documentation to maintain quality standards.


Tool Management and Optimization :

  • Manage and optimize DevOps tools we use inhouse.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to streamline operations and enhance security.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or similar experience addon.
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, with a strong background in cloud environments (AWS).
  • Proficiency in DevOps tools and technologies, including GitLab, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, Grafana, Prometheus, and New Relic.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Bash, Python, or similar languages.
  • Knowledge of security practices, cloud compliance, and familiarity with monitoring and logging tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with security-focused DevOps practices and tools, such as AWS GuardDuty, AWS Inspector, and WAF management.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards (NIST, SOC 2, GDPR, PCI DSS) and best practices for cloud security.
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
