We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for our renowned client, who will work within the design/R&D department. The role involves overseeing the mechanical design and development of Special Purpose Assembly automation systems and testing systems. Responsibilities include crafting machine layouts and Bills of Materials (BOM) using conceptual insights and adhering to customer specifications and recommendations.
Location: Hosur, Tamil Nadu, Work from office
Responsibilities:
Designing and developing Special Purpose Assembly Automation systems and Testing systems.
Validating and determining concepts for the above systems.
Analyzing technical specifications/RFQ to establish procedures, objectives, and test specifications.
Converting design concepts into 3D CAD models.
Performing engineering calculations for Strength of materials, Speed, pressure, and force, and selecting various standard elements for machines/automation systems.
Generating detailed drawings with relevant GD&T and bills of materials for equipment, subassemblies, or products.
Utilizing knowledge of Pneumatics for selection and calculation of various parts.
Converting 3D CAD models into 2D drawings and releasing them for manufacturing.
Reviewing drawings for accuracy, material selection, machining processes, surface finish, and other specifications.
Preparing and organizing design documentation, obtaining quotations from suppliers, preparing Bill of Materials, test charts, and Machine Manuals.
Collaborating with vendors/purchase team during manufacturing and procurement stages.
Collaborating with the execution team during assembly, testing, and machine qualification stages.
Coordinating with the control engineering team to ensure seamless integration of electrical design with mechanical design.
Adhering to all ISO procedures relevant to the job.
Updating design and documentation upon final acceptance of the machine.
Ensuring successful project completion within the stipulated time, cost, scope, and quality.
Key Deliverables
Ensuring delivery of designs that meet all requirements and objectives.
Regularly updating drawings and implementing improvements.
Completing design activities on time with high quality.
Providing cost-effective turnkey solutions that meet customer needs and standards.
Supporting the assembly team to meet customer requirements.
Qualifications:
2 to 4 years of experience in the design of Special Purpose Machine (SPM).
2 to 4 years of experience in automation design.
Proficient in performing engineering calculations related to strength of materials, pressure, speeds, power, temperature, force, and load, particularly concerning machine and tool design.
Familiar with engineering drawing and GD&T.
Knowledgeable about materials, manufacturing processes, and heat treatment.
Knowledgeable in machine shop techniques.
Proficient in 3D CAD modeling software.
Experienced in Pneumatics and Hydraulics.
Skills and Abilities:
Capable of designing systems based on concept sketches and discussions with customers/team leaders, evaluating feasibility, and finalizing design solutions.
Demonstrates strong ability to conceptualize and create solutions for complex design requirements.
Inquisitive with a thirst for learning.
Willing to work extended hours to achieve set targets.
Possesses logical thinking and analytical skills.
A team player with strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills.
