Every single mission from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota, India's Missile Test Range, Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur and the Flight Test Centre (FTC) in India uses software developed by Engineers at LaunchTrax for better mission readiness.


Job Description:

We're looking for a talented and enthusiastic Junior UI/UX Designer to join our dynamic team on an internship or probation basis. As a Junior Designer at LTX, you'll play a crucial role in crafting intuitive and visually stunning user experiences for our Next Gen Mission Systems in Defense & Aerospace. From designing MVPs to evolving existing products, you'll have the chance to work on diverse projects that challenge and inspire you.

 

 Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Own the UI/UX Design delivery, ability to manage multiple projects independently
  • Participate in customer meetings to gathering and understanding requirements.
  • Research and gather project requirements from existing products and competitors to build and evolve applications. This could range from developing MVPs to fully-fledged product.
  • Deeply collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams as you’ll interact closely with engineering, product managers, and business folks to find elegant but practical solutions to design challenges
  • Translate product vision and goals into a set of aesthetic, easy-to-use and accessible designs, such as a set of app screens.
  • Communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process with wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mock-ups, or high fidelity prototypes.
  • Incorporate user feedback and business requirements into ongoing product experience updates.
  • Focus on creating reusable user experience and maintain a library of components, icons, colours, and fonts used throughout the product.
  • Take ownership of design documentation and handoff processes, ensuring comprehensive and clear records of design decisions and assets for seamless transfer to development teams.
  • Assist in designing marketing collateral.
  • Meet the performance goals as defined periodically.

 

Skills and Attributes required:

  • Requirements gathering and information architecture.
  • Good knowledge to work with design tools, specifically Figma. 
  • Consistent ability to apply a brand's style and interaction patterns
  • Effective communication skills to explain design decisions and processes clearly.
  • Attention to details and ability to design and iterate based off feedbacks
  • Articulate in explaining design decisions and problem-solving approach.

Brownie Points:

  • You have a good understanding of QT, IMGUI, HTML, CSS,  & JS. Although, you are not expected to code.
  • Enthusiastic about space, defense, hardware.
  • Experience with motion design or animation, enhancing user engagement and interaction.

 

Qualifications:

  • 0-2+ years of experience crafting product experiences for multiple screen sizes and platforms is preferred. However, if you're a recent graduate with a strong portfolio and a passion for design, we encourage you to apply.
  • Familiarity in research methods in design thinking,  prototyping and information architecture concepts.
  • Excellent sense of visual (typography, font pairings, color theory & visual hierarchy), interaction and user flow skills.
  • Proficiency in UI and interaction design tools such as Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.
  • Strong understanding of common UX patterns and UI patterns for various platforms and form factors.
