The Zoro teams are in London and Leicester.  Leicester is the home of the Category, Customer Service & Sales, Merchandising and Finance teams, whilst our Technology, Marketing and Data Analytics, and HR teams are based in the heart of London.

PRIMARY FUNCTION
We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer, with superb knowledge of Linux environments and be responsible for support and development of services/tooling for DevOps to support our e-commerce platform. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for integrating our existing tools and software to improve the productivity of the development and support teams. This role will be instrumental in expanding DevOps practices to the wider team. The DevOps engineer would be expected to be able to work with other team members based across Europe as well as external developers.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
This role will be:
  • Responsible for creating software deployment strategies that are essential for the successful deployment of software
  • Accountable for designing, building, and optimising automation systems
  • Creating technology infrastructure, automation tools, and maintaining configuration management
  • Implement secure coding practices to prevent vulnerabilities, mitigate security risks and write clean and maintainable code to meet quality standards
  • Participate in peer code reviews to identify and resolve defects.
  • Contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for efficient software delivery.
  • Document software design, architecture, and development processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in software development processes.
  • Follow OWASP security standards.
  • To work to the company management systems at all times.
  • Any other duties the company deem appropriate in the change of business circumstances.

Requirements

  • Experience with designing System Architecture using AWS

  • Experience with setting up MongoDB cluster, Elastic Search, NodeJs Applications

  • Deep understanding of Linux environments with strong skills in infrastructure, operations and development. 

  • Experience with automation/configuration management using either Ansible or Chef/Puppet. 

  • Automated Deployments

  • Knowledge of Scripting, Bash, Python or Ruby.

  • CI tools e.g. Jenkins, Thoughtworks Go

  • Cloud-style IaaS/PaaS environment management and Scripting. 

  • Proven track record in a DevOps role in a similar environment.

  • Ability to work across multiple work streams and development projects in an agile environment.

  • Comfortable with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders.

  • Passion for technology and a real willingness to learn and develop new skills.

  • Experience working with Docker & Kubernetes
