Subject matter Expert Cell mechanical Design

We are looking for a committed Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical aspects of the cell design.The engineer will work under the direction of the group lead with the primary role in development of the prototypes of the Li-ion cells/batteries and scaling them into production level. This role entails deep expertise in the field of mechanical engineering & design, development of prototypes and launching them into production.
Key Responsibilities
1. Take ownership of Lithium-ion cell mechanical design and lead all the activities from design phase to productionphase.2. Define the mechanical design of a cell and its components.3. Create & update 3D CAD models, drawings & BOMs in Solid Works4. Define tolerances using GD&T, perform tolerance stack up analysis, identify the risks and propose solutions.5. Conduct FEA analysis & thermal modeling.6. Develop and conduct tests to mechanically characterize Li-ion cell & its components.7. Lead the process development of slitting, tab preparation, tab welding, grooving, crimping, can weldingprocesses etc.8. Contribute to hands-on work with electrode and cell engineers, technicians, and associates on developmentefforts related to pilot line process development, troubleshooting, and corrective action implementation9. Capable of working in R&D and production line and working in the low humidity-controlled environment (likedry room).10. Mange design for manufacturing by leveraging deep understanding of cell design and process limitations.11. Lead DFMEA activity for mechanical design and support PFMEA.12. Conduct design reviews.13. Release the design & document all the design changes using the company’s engineering change managementsystem.14. Provide input for project documentation including sketches, preliminary proposals, project schedules & projectPlans.15. Collaborate effectively with the cross-functional teams and lead the project to successful completion.
Qualification &ExperienceBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering8+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design/manufacturing working on prototype design & launching into production.Proficiency in designing & prototyping products, mechanical equipment, fixtures and tooling in 2D and 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).Experience with GD&T, Tolerance stack up analysis.Experience with FEMExperience with welding techniques such as resistance welding, ultrasonic welding & laser welding.Experience with metal forming.Excellent communication skillsAbility to work independently.Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign
