Job Title: Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – DBA Background

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with a strong foundation in database administration (DBA) to join our infrastructure team. In this hybrid role, you will combine operational excellence, automation, and database expertise to ensure our systems are reliable, scalable, and performant.

Key Responsibilities

· Design, implement, and maintain reliable cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools

· Monitor and maintain the availability and performance of applications, services, and databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL/NoSQL)

· Manage backup, recovery, scaling, and high availability of database systems

· Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for system and database outages

· Collaborate with development and DevOps teams on performance tuning, schema design, and query optimization

· Build and manage observability stacks (logging, metrics, alerting, dashboards)

· Develop incident response and runbooks.

Must-Have Skills

· 3+ years of hands-on experience in Database Administration (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar)

· Strong understanding of Linux system administration

· Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, PMM, ELK, etc.)

· Proficient in shell scripting and at least one language (Python, Go, etc.)

· Oversee the database (DB) upgrade process, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.

· Experience with cloud platforms (preferabllyAWS)

· Familiar with configuration management/IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.)

· Experience with backup and recovery strategies and disaster recovery implementation.

· Proficiency in database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing.

· Solid understanding of database security best practices and user management.

· Monitor database performance and implement optimizations (e.g., indexing, query optimization).

· Perform routine database maintenance tasks including patching, tuning, and monitoring .

· Understanding of networking, load balancing, and security best practices

· Conduct database capacity planning and resource allocation to meet business needs.

· Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues and performance bottlenecks.

· Manage, and troubleshoot database replication (master-slave, multi-master, etc.) for high availability and fault tolerance.

· Monitor and troubleshoot replication lag, conflicts, and other related issues to ensure data consistency and system reliability.

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
