OVERVIEW :
The Principal Information Security Analyst – Vulnerability Management & Threat Monitoring (VM & TM) is a seasoned expert with 8-12 years of relevant experience, tasked with overseeing the risk and compliance aspects of the organization. This individual is instrumental in refining, implementing, and upholding the VM & TM program, and works in close collaboration with various business units and stakeholders in the domains of vulnerability management, patching, and incident response. They are charged with establishing and maintaining both operational and executive-level metrics, while continuously enhancing and aligning Skillsoft’s information security policies, implementation standards, and technical hardening guidelines. This role ensures the creation and adherence to security standards and protocols for the VM & TM program. This encompasses the routine monitoring and reporting of vulnerabilities and threats throughout the organization and participating in incident response activities, serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for vulnerability management and threat monitoring, addressing findings and responding to threats accordingly.
OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHTS:
Proactively maintain and improve VM & TM to ensure optimal vulnerability management posture, and respond to security incidents using VM and Incident response tools. Address vulnerability management and security incident response needs promptly. Regularly conduct security threat hunting in collaboration with the team, assessing and acting upon identified risks. Manage security incident response and analysis, coordinating with the management team and other stakeholders to take effective action during security breaches, violations, and incidents with a sense of urgency. Provide input for the refinement of rules, runbooks, and playbooks for incident response. Coordinate and execute tasks related to the incident response plan, working closely with team members from incident response. Offer guidance as an SME for VM & TM, focusing on incident response and handling. Liaise with various stakeholders and the CISO team for incident coordination and resolution. Manage tickets associated with Vulnerability Management and Security incidents. Oversee the patch management lifecycle and provide necessary support for patching activities. Coordinate with users and stakeholders throughout the incident response lifecycle, serving as an SME. Responsibilities include: o Managing documentation for VM & TM processes and procedures. Collaborating with the Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) during incidents and coordinating with the CISO team as required. Conducting incident response and generating reports for all validated incidents. Guiding less experienced team members on investigative techniques where applicable. Identifying and addressing gaps in incident response and VM processes, collaborating with platform engineering teams to optimize operations.SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology/Computer Science. Minimum of 8 years of full-time experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) focusing on information security, vulnerability management, and incident response. Profound knowledge of the incident response and vulnerability management lifecycle. Proficiency in Vulnerability Management tools such as Tenable and Qualys, and familiarity with patching tools. Expertise in Microsoft security tools like Azure Sentinel and Defender for Endpoint and Cloud. Skilled in the use of SIEM, SOAR, DNS, IDS, IPS, Firewalls, threat intelligence, and ticketing tools. Understanding of information security principles, practices, and their organizational impact, including familiarity with the MITRE framework, NIST, and other security frameworks. Experience in incident response and analysis, as well as managing information security breaches, violations, and incidents. Preferred credentials include Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Security+, Microsoft Certifications, or equivalent. Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to engage effectively with all management levels, departments, and external vendors. Demonstrated leadership, organizational, decision-making, and analytical abilities. Capable of working autonomously and as a team member to meet objectives and project deadlines. Eager to work in an environment akin to a startup, with a strong drive for building and enhancing systems from the ground up.-
