The Plant Head will be responsible for overseeing all operations within the heavy engineering and fabrication plant. This includes managing production processes, ensuring the efficient use of resources, maintaining equipment, enforcing safety standards, and optimizing plant performance to meet production targets. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of manufacturing processes in a heavy engineering and fabrication environment, combined with strong leadership and problem-solving skills.Key Responsibilities:1. Production Management:- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of the production process, including welding, machining, assembly, and quality control.- Ensure timely production and on-time delivery of customer orders in alignment with company goals.- Optimize production schedules to balance capacity and demand, minimizing downtime and improving output.- Oversee production planning, work order allocation, and resource management to meet operational targets.2. Quality Assurance & Control:- Ensure the highest quality standards are maintained throughout all stages of fabrication and production.- Oversee inspections, testing, and the implementation of corrective actions to address quality concerns.- Ensure adherence to national and international standards (e.g., ASME, ISO, etc.) in manufacturing processes and materials.3. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:- Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and guidelines.- Lead safety audits and inspections to ensure the plant environment is safe for workers and compliant with regulations.- Develop and implement safety training programs for employees.- Identify and mitigate risks related to workplace safety, machinery, and environmental impact.
4. Resource Management:- Oversee the management of plant resources, including labor, materials, equipment, and inventory.- Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure materials are available on time and meet quality specifications.- Manage the workforce to ensure optimal productivity, including scheduling, performance reviews, and conflict resolution.5. Equipment and Maintenance Management:- Ensure the plant’s equipment is well-maintained and optimized for production needs.- Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules for machinery and equipment to reduce downtime and repair costs.- Coordinate with the maintenance team to address unexpected equipment failures promptly.
6. Budgeting & Cost Control:- Develop and manage the annual budget for the plant, ensuring cost-effective operations.- Monitor and control production costs, ensuring that production is within budget.- Implement strategies for reducing waste and improving efficiency to maximize profitability.
7. Continuous Improvement:- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging the use of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.- Lead or participate in initiatives to streamline processes, increase automation, and reduce waste.- Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
8. Reporting and Communication:- Provide regular updates and performance reports to senior management regarding production targets, resource utilization, quality metrics, and safety compliance.- Maintain clear communication with various departments such as engineering, procurement, logistics, and HR.
9. People Management & Development:- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, providing coaching and training to enhance skillsets and performance.- Establish performance goals for team members and conduct regular performance reviews.- Promote a positive work culture and resolve any employee relations issues.
10. Customer Coordination & Liaison:- Act as a point of contact for customers regarding production timelines, quality issues, or other concerns.- Work with the sales and engineering teams to ensure that customer specifications and requirements are understood and met.

Key Requirements:
Educational Qualification:- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Experience:- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in a heavy engineering, fabrication, or manufacturing environment, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role.- Experience in managing large-scale production facilities, ideally in industries such as steel fabrication, heavy equipment manufacturing, or similar.
Skills and Competencies:- In-depth knowledge of heavy engineering processes, fabrication techniques, and machinery.- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or other efficiency methodologies.- Proficiency in managing plant operations, quality control, and health & safety regulations.- Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.- Strong problem-solving abilities and conflict resolution skills.- Solid financial acumen and experience in cost control and budgeting.- Proficiency in ERP and manufacturing software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).- Knowledge of industry standards and certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, ASME).
