Position: OT In-Charge

Hospital: Mayom Hospital, Gurgaon (125 Bedded Multi-Specialty Hospital)

Reporting To: Senior Operations Manager / Hospital Administrator / Medical Superintendent

Role Objective

To oversee and manage the smooth functioning of all Operation Theatres (OTs), Endoscopy Suite, Labour Room, and Emergency OT services. The OT In-Charge will ensure availability of medicines, consumables, surgical instruments, and equipment while maintaining NABH standards, patient safety, and efficient coordination with surgeons, anesthetists, nursing, and CSSD teams.

Key Responsibilities

  1. OT Management & Coordination

  2. Supervise day-to-day functioning of all OTs (General OT, Ortho OT, Endoscopy OT, Labour Room, and Emergency OT).

  3. Prepare OT schedules and coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff.
  4. Ensure timely arrangement of instruments, implants, and consumables required for planned and emergency surgeries.
  5. Coordinate with ICU, ER, and labour room for emergency cases (e.g., C-sections, polytrauma, head injuries).

  6. Surgical Assistance

  7. Assist surgeons and anesthetists during major and minor surgeries:

  8. General & GI Surgeries
  9. Orthopedic Surgeries & Joint Replacements
  10. ENT Surgeries (microscopic & endoscopic)
  11. Ophthalmic (Cataract, IOL) Surgeries
  12. Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeries
  13. Emergency & Trauma Surgeries
  14. Provide assistance in bedside procedures (e.g., bronchoscopy, tracheostomy, line insertions) as required.

  15. Equipment & Instrumentation Management

  16. Maintain and operate advanced OT equipment:

  17. Laparoscopic Tower
  18. Navigation Systems
  19. Microdebrider
  20. Operating Microscope
  21. Anaesthesia Workstations
  22. Ensure preventive maintenance, calibration, and readiness of all OT equipment.
  23. Liaise with biomedical engineering for breakdown or servicing.

  24. Inventory & Pharmacy Coordination

  25. Maintain accurate records of OT medicines, implants, disposables, and surgical consumables.

  26. Raise indents to Pharmacy and General Store for timely replenishment.
  27. Track medicine and consumable usage per case for cost efficiency.
  28. Maintain stock registers for narcotic and high-value drugs as per legal and NABH requirements.

  29. CSSD & Sterilization Oversight

  30. Supervise Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) activities.

  31. Ensure correct sterilization cycles (Autoclave, ETO, Plasma Sterilization).
  32. Verify sterilization indicators and documentation as per NABH standards.
  33. Maintain zero tolerance for breaches in sterile protocols.

  34. Documentation & Compliance

  35. Maintain all OT registers and case records:

  36. OT Utilization Register
  37. Anaesthesia Records
  38. Medication & Narcotic Drug Register
  39. Implant & IOL Register
  40. Emergency OT Register
  41. Ensure compliance with NABH/ JCI standards for patient safety, consent, and documentation.
  42. Ensure surgical safety checklist (WHO/NABH) compliance for all cases.

  43. Emergency Management

  44. Arrange immediate OT readiness for:

  45. Emergency C-sections & complicated deliveries
  46. Polytrauma and RTA (Road Traffic Accident) cases
  47. Neuro/Head Injury Surgeries
  48. Acute Orthopaedic & General Surgery emergencies
  49. Mobilize anesthetists, pediatricians, and surgeons from local/on-call pool during emergencies.

  50. Staff Supervision & Training

  51. Supervise OT nursing staff, technicians, and support staff.

  52. Prepare OT duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing.
  53. Conduct regular training on:
  54. Infection Control & Aseptic Practices
  55. OT Safety Protocols
  56. Equipment Handling & Maintenance
  57. Evaluate staff performance and recommend recognition/disciplinary actions.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: B.Sc. Nursing / Diploma in OT Technology / GNM with specialized OT experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 7–10 years in OT services, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Skills Required:
  • Strong knowledge of OT procedures and surgical specialties
  • Hands-on experience with advanced OT equipment
  • Inventory management & cost control
  • Emergency management capability
  • Familiarity with NABH standards & hospital documentation

  • OT utilization & turnover rate
  • Zero stock-outs of critical drugs/consumables
  • Compliance with NABH standards & zero non-conformities
  • Minimal equipment downtime
  • Accurate and timely documentation
  • Staff training & patient safety indicators

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹40, ₹50,121.03 per month
