Software Test Engineer

We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly motivated Software Test Engineer to join our team and contribute to the quality assurance of SONiC NOS. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that SONiC delivers robust, scalable, and high-performance networking solutions enterprise data centers.
You’ll be joining a dynamic team of engineers and innovators who have built data platforms for AWS , Microsoft , and Nvidia , cloud mobility platforms at MobileIron, and robust network infrastructures at Cisco and Gigamon and are bringing their expertise in building AI-Native apps networking. We’re dedicated to advancing technology and fostering your professional and personal growth in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Job Description:
- Test Development : Design and develop test cases for new features and functionalities in SONiC NOS, focusing on networking protocols, system performance, and hardware compatibility.
- Automation : Create and maintain automated test scripts using frameworks like Pytest, Robot Framework, or equivalent to streamline testing processes.
- System Validation : Perform end-to-end validation of SONiC across different hardware platforms and ASICs, ensuring reliability and compatibility.
- Debugging and Troubleshooting : Identify, isolate, and debug defects in the software stack, and collaborate with development teams to resolve them.
- Performance Testing : Conduct benchmarking, stress testing, and scalability testing to ensure SONiC meets enterprise-grade performance standards.
- Regression Testing : Maintain and enhance regression test suites to ensure consistent quality across releases.
- Open Source Contributions : Participate in the SONiC open-source community by reporting issues, suggesting enhancements, and contributing to test infrastructure improvements.
- Documentation : Provide detailed test plans, test results, and defect reports to stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or a related role in networking or operating systems.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols such as BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, EVPN and more.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Bash for test automation.
- Familiarity with test tools like Wireshark, tcpdump, and network performance testing tools (e.g., iPerf, Spirent, IXIA).
- Experience with SONiC NOS or similar open networking software.
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as Pytest, Robot Framework.
- Knowledge of containerized environments and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with Linux-based systems and networking stack (e.g., iptables).
- Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, using tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD.
- Knowledge of open-source collaboration platforms such as GitHub.
