Job Post: Data Collection for Handwritten Santali Text in Ol Chiki Script

We are looking for a dedicated individual based in/from Jharkhand to assist in a project to collect examples of contemporary handwritten Santali language using the Ol Chiki script . This is a short-term assignment requiring outreach and attention to detail.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Collect Handwritten Samples:

• Engage with at least 15 individuals proficient in Santali language and Ol Chiki script .
• Provide them with a sample text (to be shared) and collect their handwritten versions on the provided sheet.

1. Metadata Collection:

• Gather basic metadata for each participant, such as age, gender, and location.

1. Digital Submission of Samples:

• Scan the completed sheets at 300 dpi resolution (preferred) or take high-quality photographs (minimum resolution of 3000x2000 pixels ).
• Ensure all submissions are clear and free of distortion.

1. Deliverables:

• Submit the scanned or photographed sheets in a digital format.
• Provide the collected metadata in a structured format (Excel, Word, or similar).

Requirements:

• Skills: Familiarity with Santali language and Ol Chiki script is an advantage.
• Equipment: Access to a scanner or a high-resolution camera.
• Communication: Ability to effectively coordinate with participants to collect the required data.

Timeline:

• The project should be completed within 1 week from the start date.

Compensation:

• Payment will be based on the completion of the task and the quality of the submissions. Details will be discussed during the hiring process.
