Puppet Infrastructure Automation Engineer

Responsibilities :

- Design and develop Puppet manifests to automate the configuration and management of Linux/Unix/Windows servers, with a bonus for experience on IBM AIX.

- Utilize YAML and JSON for data management within Puppet configurations.

- Write custom scripts in shell, Python, or PowerShell to extend Puppet functionality and automate complex tasks.

- Possess a basic understanding of programming languages like Ruby or Python for potential interaction with Puppet modules.

- Implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) best practices to ensure configuration consistency, repeatability, and version control.

- Demonstrate a strong understanding of Puppet architecture, including Puppet Server, PuppetDB, and Puppet Agent.

- Troubleshoot and debug Puppet infrastructure issues, identifying and resolving configuration errors.

- Manage Puppet modules, manifests, and configurations effectively.

- Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in Puppet, IaC tools, and best practices.

- Collaborate with DevOps engineers and system administrators to automate infrastructure workflows.

- Document Puppet configurations, procedures, and best practices.

Qualifications :

- 5-8 years of experience in Linux/Unix/Windows server administration.

- 5-8 years of experience with Puppet infrastructure automation.

- In-depth knowledge of Puppet manifests, modules, and configuration management principles.

- Proficiency in YAML and JSON for data manipulation.

- Experience writing custom scripts in shell, Python, or PowerShell for automation purposes.

- Basic understanding of programming languages like Ruby or Python (a plus).

- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) concepts and tools (e.g., Terraform).

- Strong understanding of Puppet architecture, including Puppet Server, PuppetDB, and Puppet Agent.

- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Passion for automation and a continuous learning mindset.
