Title - Application Engineer AI SME ( AI Admin)
Type - Contract
Location - Remote
NOTE: This is not a developer or engineer role.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Configure and manage data privacy controls to prevent the training of AI models on sensitive data and enforce zero-retention policies.
- Deliver comprehensive audit logs, compliance reporting, and monitoring for OpenAI usage to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
- Implement robust guardrails and moderation tools, including fine-tuned safety layers, to enhance the security and reliability of AI applications.
- Track and analyze model performance and usage metrics, producing regular reports for leadership to inform strategic decisions.
- Optimize prompt engineering and evaluate cost/performance trade-offs, such as comparing GPT-4 and GPT-4o mini, to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to API calls, latency, and integration failures, ensuring seamless operation of AI tools.
- Maintain a detailed internal admin guide with setup/configuration steps, governance rules, and best practices for AI tool management.
- Develop and maintain knowledge bases and wikis for developers and end users to facilitate knowledge sharing and skill development.
- Deliver training sessions for IT staff to expand their expertise in managing OpenAI tools and ensure comprehensive admin coverage.
- Serve as the Tier 3 escalation point for OpenAI-related incidents, providing expert-level support and resolution.
- Collaborate with security, compliance, and engineering teams to expand the safe and responsible use of AI tools across the organization.
Key Deliverables:
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for AI tools and oversee their overall governance.
- Address and resolve issues related to the Default Project space, ensuring optimal functionality.
- Ensure the security of the AI environment and its data by mitigating open business risks.
- Enable AI tool functionalities for third-party applications, starting with a general introduction and expanding capabilities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- 5-8 years of experience in AI applications engineering or a related role.
- Demonstrated proficiency in AI tools, particularly Google Gemini, OpenAI, and Anthropic.
- Strong understanding of data privacy controls and compliance requirements.
- Experience in configuring and managing AI tool environments securely and effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to handle complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience delivering training and creating documentation.
