Join Our Team as a Weld and Forming Process Engineer

Are you a skilled engineer passionate about improving manufacturing processes? We are seeking a talented Weld and Forming Process Engineer to join our team in Ripon, WI. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, managing, and maintaining production methods for forming and welding equipment, focusing on laser, plasma, and resistance welds. Your contributions will enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and overall company performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Improvement: Examine equipment, processes, operations, and procedures to identify improvement opportunities in safety, quality, throughput, and cost.
  • Standard Implementation: Implement changes and modify operation standards to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Vendor Evaluation: Evaluate vendor proposals for new equipment purchases and select suitable manufacturing processes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and optimize current and new manufacturing processes using continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with production and maintenance teams to ensure equipment operates in like-new condition.
  • Studies and Analysis: Conduct Capability Studies and Time Studies to develop process improvements and Visual Work Instructions.
  • Support and Troubleshooting: Provide production support, process troubleshooting, and reduce costs related to scrap, rework, and cycle time.
  • Tooling and Fixtures: Specify tools, jigs, and fixtures required for manufacturing processes.
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate projects and perform daily troubleshooting to ensure smooth operations.
  • Kaizen Events: Actively participate in Kaizen events to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Material Science, Mechanical, Welding, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent related experience.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of engineering project experience in metal manufacturing.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Lean manufacturing techniques, capability studies, process mapping, FMEA, and root cause analysis. Experience with Creo and AutoCAD is highly preferred.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Project Management: Ability to lead projects and work effectively in a fast-paced continuous improvement environment.
  • Detail Orientation: Strong attention to detail with the ability to understand complex process interactions.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship, Journeyman Certification, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with welding and light fabrication.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication networks (Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet).
  • Experience with Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) control loops and combustion controls.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical devices.
  • Safety awareness training.

Requirements
2-4 years of engineering project experience in metal manufacturing. Experience in Lean manufacturing techniques, capability studies, process mapping, FMEA, and root cause analysis. Ability to take a project lead role and work comfortably in a fast-moving continuous improvement culture. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks with aggressive deadlines. Detail-oriented with the ability to understand complex process interactions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience with Creo and AutoCAD is a strong plus. Must Have: Bachelor’s Degree in Material Science, Mechanical, Welding, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or combined related experience. 2-4 years of engineering project experience in metal manufacturing.
