Role & responsibilities

Job Objective:

To provide accurate cost estimations for Air Handling Units (AHUs) based on customer requirements, technical specifications, and internal manufacturing capabilities, ensuring competitive pricing and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Estimation & Design

  2. Accurately estimate costs for AHU manufacturing projects, including materials, labor, and overheads, using estimation software and spreadsheets.

  3. Assist in technical sizing and design of AHUs based on customer specifications, capacity requirements, and industry standards.

  4. Documentation & Analysis

  5. Maintain and update estimation logs, historical data, and unit cost databases.

  6. Prepare detailed BOM (Bill of Materials) and cost breakdowns for internal and customer use.

  7. Vendor Coordination

  8. Identify and liaise with vendors to get updated pricing for key components such as fans, coils, motors, and other accessories.

  9. Evaluate and maintain a database of approved vendors for cost-effective sourcing.

  10. Interdepartmental Collaboration

  11. Coordinate with sales, design, and production teams to align cost estimates with manufacturing feasibility and project budgets.

  12. Participate in review meetings and provide input on pricing strategies and margin optimization.

  13. Technical Understanding

  14. Read and interpret tender documents, technical drawings, and customer specifications.

  15. Knowledge of AHU components and their selection (fans, heat exchanger coils, filters, dampers, etc.).

  16. Communication & Reporting

  17. Prepare cost proposals and support documentation for submission to clients or internal stakeholders.

  18. Communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors.

  19. Tools & Software

  20. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), basic AutoCAD or estimation tools (as applicable).
