Job Description: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Patching Engineer to lead and manage network patching activities across enterprise infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise in patching methodologies, strong vendor management skills, and the ability to coordinate communication across teams and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Cisco TAC and vendor-specific patching manuals to ensure compliance, security, and minimal downtime during patching cycles. Key Responsibilities: Lead and execute patching activities on network devices (switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, etc.). Manage and prioritize patching queues to ensure timely remediation of vulnerabilities. Develop detailed patching plans including pre-checks, impact analysis, and rollback strategies. Apply and verify firmware/OS upgrades on multi-vendor devices (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, F5, etc.). Review and apply vendor-specific manuals and guidelines for patching best practices. Act as the primary communicator for patching-related activities—providing clear updates to leadership, IT operations, and business stakeholders. Collaborate with vendors (e.g., Cisco TAC) for troubleshooting, patch validation, and escalations. Ensure compliance with organizational security policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Mentor and guide junior network team members in patching activities and documentation. Required Qualifications: 12–15+ years of hands-on networking experience, with a focus on network patching and maintenance and at least 5 years focused on patching and upgrades. Deep technical knowledge of Cisco IOS, NX-OS, ASA, Palo Alto PAN-OS, Juniper JUNOS, F5 TMOS or similar. Strong background in network protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, VLAN, VPN, etc.). Proficiency in performing firmware/OS patching in high-availability and mission-critical environments. Demonstrated experience working directly with Cisco TAC or equivalent vendor escalation. Strong troubleshooting skills using tools like Wireshark, CLI debugs, and syslog/SNMP monitoring. Solid understanding of change management, ITIL patching processes, and incident handling. Excellent scripting/shell knowledge (Python, Ansible, Bash) for patch automation (preferred but not mandatory). Preferred Skills: CCNP / CCIE certification or equivalent. Experience in network security patching aligned with vulnerability management programs. Familiarity with automation tools for patch management. Prior experience in leading a network operations or patching team.
