Yuma Energy is a leading Battery as a Service (BaaS) provider offering battery swapping for 2 & 3 wheelers currently operating 150+ locations and 5 cities with an ambition to grow our network to be the largest in the country in the coming years.


As a Director of Charging Systems, you will be responsible for building and leading a team in end-end engineering and validation of charging systems for use in Yuma Energy’s swapping network. You will play a critical role in accelerating electrification and driving innovation in BaaS ecosystem. You will be working closely with cross functional teams including business, product, software and external partners to deliver to safe, reliable and cost competitive solutions.


Responsibilities

  • Lead team of engineers in development and delivery of charging systems to be used to charge swappable battery packs.
  • Responsible for entire product lifecycle from concept to production including mechanical, thermal, electrical & embedded system architectures.
  • Own and lead product road map with focus on innovation and advancing technologies related to power electronics, thermal management, connectivity & user interface.
  • Responsible for selection and integration of technologies from partners and vendors.
  • Own design, testing, validation and certification to ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations and certifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business, product, manufacturing, and quality, to ensure product design and development align with company goals and objectives.
  • Plan, manage and execute development activities in alignment with overall milestones and budget.
  • Work closely with technology partners, suppliers and other stake holders to ensure alignment of product functional and performance requirements.
  • Keep abreast of advancement in technologies related to charging and evolving regulatory standards & requirements and apply this to product.
  • Spearhead various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processes.
  • Develop and implement engineering processes and best practices to ensure quality and efficiency in product development and testing
  • Monitor and determine various staffing and training needs
  • Hire, train, and supervise engineering staff members
  • Motivate, guide and mentor the team to consistently delivery world class products.


Requirements/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in systems engineering, product development with 8+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong technical knowledge in charging systems including design, testing and validation.
  • Hands on experience & expertise hardware engineering, power electronics, embedded systems, and communication protocols.
  • Experience in developing concepts, cascading requirements, design, validation and launching into production.
  • Knowledge in embedded systems including HW & SW.
  • Experience in communication protocols like BLE, RFID and IoT products will be a plus.
  • Experience in managing external technology partners/vendors in developing and implementing their technologies.
  • Direct experience in getting products certified for compliance and regulatory standards like AIS, UL, CE etc.
  • Experience and/or knowledge in DVP&R and DFMEA.
  • Demonstrates analytical and critical thinking in NPD and problem solving.
  • Expertise in handling multiple projects while dealing with ambiguity and making data driven decisions to in a fast paced, outcome driven environment.
  • Experience in building teams, planning and managing resources and budget.
