About the Position

As a Field Application Scientist, you will engage with customers daily, delivering trainings at customer sites, and providing experimental design, data analysis, logistical, and troubleshooting support across your region. You will serve as a key contact, collaborating with in-house Technical Support to address issues and maintain customer relationships. The primary objectives of this role are to ensure rapid adoption and maximum customer success with BGI STomics (Spatial Temporal Multi-omics) products.

Responsibilities:

Communicate:

  1. Serve as the primary liaison between customers and the company.
  2. Keep customers informed and trained on advancements in STOmics technology and software.
  3. Coordinate and conduct customer site trainings and demonstrations.
  4. Identify, document, and communicate customer issues, complaints, or concerns to management.
  5. Contribute to white papers and documentation to expand support content.
  6. Coordinate discussions of product offerings with potential and current customers.
  7. Prepare technical reports and presentations, both internally and externally, detailing key methodologies and results.

Connect:

  1. Collaborate with customers as they develop their research using STomics technologies.
  2. Foster long-term relationships through scientific discussions and collaboration.
  3. Maintain positive working relationships with customers, managing expectations while exceeding their needs.
  4. Gather and deliver strategic customer feedback, communicating use cases beyond initial product scope to Marketing and Product Development teams.

Support:

  1. Troubleshoot issues related to users' technical skills, biochemistry/assay design, experimental design, software, and instruments.
  2. Interpret customer needs and identify the proper issue escalation pathway within BGI STomics.
  3. Support field sales team at trade shows, seminars, and technical symposiums, including presentations and networking.
  4. Coordinate on goods logistics and commercial arrangement (tax etc)

Requirements:

  1. BS and above with approx. 2-4 years of life science industry experience, or Ph.D. in the field of Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry or chemistry
  2. Deep understanding of the local culture, language, and life science business practices
  3. In-depth knowledge and experience on life science products logistics and commercial arrangement to Indian, including but not limited to order process, customs clearance, risk management, regulatory compliance.
  4. Comfortable working in a customer-facing environment.
  5. Must be self-motivated, a quick learner, dedicated to achieving excellence, and love to take on new challenges.
  6. Demonstrable knowledge and experience with histology, NGS workflows, and data analysis software.
  7. Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
  8. Strong self-directed learning and researching skills.
  9. Excellent organizational, analytical, and systematic troubleshooting skills.
  10. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  11. Outstanding presentation and training skills.
  12. Ability to maintain records for customer sites and provide high-level feedback to management.
  13. Able to travel and support the middle east region.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience as a Field Application Scientist or in customer-facing roles in the life science industry.
  2. Experience in Spatial Genomics or single-cell sequencing.
  3. Having experience in coordinating the logistics and commercial arrangements of life science products from China to India is considered advantageous.
  4. Proficiency with common molecular biology bench techniques and histological practices such as ISH, IHC/IHF.
  5. Solid computational skills and a deep understanding of omics data and its analysis is a plus.
  6. Proficient in Python is preferred.
  7. Extensive knowledge of genomics or biochemistry.
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team toward corporate goals.
  9. Study or work experience in internationally renowned Indian universities, research institutions, or the life science industry.
