We're seeking a talented counsellor to join our dynamic team. Job Description and Key Requirements:Provide confidential counselling services to students facing a wide range of personal, academic, emotional, and social challengesDevelop individualized treatment plans, and facilitate goal setting to support students in overcoming obstacles and achieving personal growthDevelop and implement campus-wide programs and initiatives aimed at promoting mental health awareness, resilience, and prevention of mental health issuesInvolve and interact with students beyond counselling in campus activities, student clubs, the writing centre, and learning beyond classroomsDisplay an ability to integrate mental health with journaling, writing, art, theatre or movementDisplay an ability to develop a ground-up community support system on campusFacilitate psychoeducational groups and support groups creating a safe and inclusive environment for group participants to share experiences and support one anotherCommunicate with parents regarding student needs if required, educate parents during the orientation process, provide on and off-campus resources, and communicate with parents during a crisis/emergency of a studentOffer immediate support and intervention in crises such as mental health emergencies, suicidal ideation, or traumatic incidents.Collaborate with relevant campus resources and external agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of students in crisisPeriodically educate the campus community about available resources and destigmatise seeking help.Collaborate with student organisations to address their specific needsCollaborate with faculty and program team on student well-being, academic performance, behaviour management, and crisis response. Provide expert advice on mental health best practices and campus policiesStay updated on current trends, research, and best practices in the field of psychology and mental health, particularly those relevant to law students and young adults. Pursue opportunities for professional development, including attending conferences, workshops, and training programs to enhance counselling skills and knowledgeSpearhead the creation of a robust BITSLAW Wellness Centre to offer students the necessary support and services

Essential Academic Qualifications:Excellent academic record and a Master’s Degree in Psychology or allied areas with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point scale wherever a grading system is followed)Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a practising psychologistLicensed or eligible for licensure as a psychologist in the state of MaharashtraStrong understanding of ethical guidelines and legal requirements related to psychological practice and confidentiality (e.g., Mental Health Care Act, 2017)Familiarity with crisis intervention, risk assessment, and suicide prevention strategiesExcellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.Strong cultural competence and ability to build rapport with a diverse student populationStrong organisational skills and time management abilities

Additional Preferred Requirements:Prior experience providing direct counselling services in a university or college setting, preferably working with young adultsKnowledge of evidence-based practices in counselling, such as Developmental Counselling therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)Proficiency in art-based learning and assessment using standardised tests and personality inventories
