Senior Designer _Instrument

1.0Role1.1PositionSenior Designer1.2Reports/ directsReports to: Lead Designer /Lead Engineer/ Senior EngineerDirects: Functionally group of Designers for the project1.3Job summaryEnsures the Layouts /designs meet the quality and agreed project requirementsPerforms as Lead Designer role on medium / small size projects to successfully complete Layout engineering activities of the project.1.4Level in the organization10h from Head of Engineering Services1.5Key RelationshipsWith Other disciplines and relevant teams within L&T group.2.0Key Responsibilities2.1- ManagementActs as Leave replacement to the Principal Designer as appropriate2.2- Quality/HSEPerforms discipline check and Inter-discipline check of documentsEnsures that the required integrity and quality of the work is maintainedUnderstands the Quality/HSE Management system and their procedures2.3- Project ExecutionPrepare / check CCR Eqpt. Layout, Instrument Equipment Layouts, CCR Cable tray layoutsPrepare / Check Instrument Location layouts, JB Layouts, overall cable tray layouts.Prepare / Check Inst. Hook up drawings, Installation drawingsPrepare / Check Cable Block Diagram, JB wiring, Panel wiring drawing.Prepare / Check JB schedule, Cable SchedulePrepare / Check F&G layoutsPrepare / Check Telecom layoutsPrepare / Check Instrument Bulk MTOPerforms discipline check and Inter-discipline check of documentsProvide draft or mark up of Layouts to designers / draughtsman for further draftingGuides Designers / Cad Operators on Layout and Drafting Work, 3D Modelling work.Carry out 3D Modelling work pertaining to InstrumentationFamiliar with the Company procedures and relevant standards & codesExecutes the design works within scheduleResolves clash issues related with Instrument in 3D model.Co-ordinates with other disciplines & resolves the design interface issues related to layoutsProvides design inputs related to layouts during all design phases and ensures availability of required inputs from their disciplinesActively communicates with other disciplines to optimise areas of interface during the design development, review and check processes involving layouts.2.4- Business DevelopmentNA2.5- ProposalsProvides inputs to concerned Engineer on Man-hour estimation part for Layout related work in projects.2.6- Planning & Scheduling-3.0Supporting processes3.1- Human resourcesDevelops Designers/Draughtsman to fulfil discipline engineering rolesrelated to drawing work4.0Job Requirements4.1Language:Should be able to speak and write English4.2Education:Diploma in Instrument Engineering4.3Professional Experience:8 to 10 years preferably in consultancy and in Layout related work4.4Key Competencies(Functional)Shall be conversant with relevant Instrument Engineering standards / Statutory norms related to layouts, safety protection etc.Shall be conversant and shall be able to support Instrument Engineering deliverables comprising of Layouts, Hook-ups, Installation, wiring, block diagrams etc.Good knowledge of system procedures3D Modelling in PDS / PDMS4.5Key Competencies(Bhavioural)Team WorkTime management skills
